...and we are currently considering just writing 2020 off entirely and starting fresh in 2021.

What's everyone else's work situation currently?

We’ve been told to expect WFH for the rest of 2020, but will be reviewed monthly. We’re doing phased returns and I’m in the last group. The sector is also fecked financially, so not sure who’ll have jobs to go back to (I’ll probably be ok, but they’re pushing voluntary).

But the brothel is still open?

Asking for a friend. Home visits no problem but a bit of a pain.

You’re close. I get f*cked over daily by people, but they never pay and it’s never enjoyable!

Well, I've been keeping it quiet, but I took early retirement in 2014.

Not back in office until August at earliest. Which to my surprise I’m rather pleased about. I don’t need to drive 40 mins each way to loaf in the office.

I don't actually mind working from home too much, but it would be an awful lot better if we were able to go out and socialise properly at the end of the day or the weekend.

Yes indeed. Currently there’s no real separation. It’s just one long work day. Although I don’t mind working at 10 or 11 at night if it means I can take the afternoon off to mow the lawn or play 9 holes. Most of my clients are in Europe so by midday here calls are pretty much done.

Work for a Cloud software company, while we have had some accounts lost this current situation is perversely a great opportunity for us as we are a software/platform monitoring company. Some of our European office are due to phased reopening in the coming weeks.

Here in Ireland the office won't be open until mid August. Then it will be reduced capacity and only for those who want to go in.

Been WFH since March 12th and along with the lockdown it's really putting strain on the family unit being stuck pretty much in the house. Hence why I'm awake currently.

Completely different scenario as I am talking about Australia (7,225 cases, 6,640 recovered, 102 deaths - at least 25 of which foreign nationals who contracted the virus on cruise ships that then offloaded them n Australia).

My company started to open up it's offices two weeks ago, starting with my office in Perth. Only letting 50% of the office in at anyone time and have to check in and out using an app to support contact tracing. Only two people in a lift at one time (which is a huge pain even though half the firms in our building haven't com back). The city centre is still really empty, over half the cafes/coffee shops are shut and the car parks really empty. Commute time is 15 minutes compared to 25 minutes usually. Feels really odd to be back - similar feeling to truanting school (i.e. doing something you're not supposed to do).

Told to expect to wfh for rest of 2020.

We've spent the last 10 years ramming more people into smaller spaces, and focusing on hot desking, as a response to austerity, and now it has come back to bite as the office is not remotely 'covid safe'.

Had a week off (booked holiday, to clear my dad's house) at the beginning of the curfew, otherwise have been working normally.

Cafés are closed so am having to plan meals and buy stuff at weekend to fill fridge in lorry on Monday morning, sufficient for half the week. Then find a supermarket to top up in midweek. This was a problem in the early days of shortages but has been fine since, though have had to use up a full break, sometimes, queueing for the top-up.

Am carrying several disinfectant products including a spray which I use on the pumps when filling with diesel. Also on other surfaces, door handles etc handled by others and on my hands every time before getting back in lorry.

Have often had to go without a shower, sometimes for two or three days.

Am not handling any paperwork (except dangerous goods notes when applicable). For proof of delivery am taking pictures of sealed container on arrival and empty container on departure along with name of person receiving cargo. Most places are happy with this as they don't want to exchange paperwork, either.

And the roads have been clear, much busier in the last couple of weeks though nowhere near back to normal.

Working from home 100% of the time instead of 70%. Other than that nothing has changed. Boss called me last week and asked that if and when the office reopens, did I want to come back, I said no I’d rather wfh as default and he said cool.

Might nip in every now and again to raid the coffee machine and fruit basket though.

Our office in the UK was instructed to work from home just over 2 weeks prior to the lockdown so I’m not anticipating a particularly early return. Our people in the Nordics are being actively encouraged to return now though, even those who rely on public transport.

Still WFH until at least July, can't really see that will change then either.

I've been into the office once since March for a couple of things I couldn't do at home and there were five people in - including security and post room - so as long as I can do that occasionally it works ok.

I can walk in so don't have to worry about commuting but if I did then I would not be happy about the prospect of going back - that part feels like an unreasonable risk in London at present.

Commuting is actually one of the biggest stumbling blocks we face at the moment. Fairly sure we can keep people safe when they are at work but getting them is the issue.

Driving isn't exactly common in the city, and even if it was it would be unreasonable to expect 600 staff members to all find and pay for sky high parking costs (let alone the bad look from an environmental perspective).

Currently working 3 days in the office, 2 days at home.

Given I work in the portable office industry, I wasn't too sure what to expect, but we've come out of this relatively okay at the minute. We're only a small business which has around 300 units out on hire, and we had 20 (or so) ask us for reductions in rate for a couple of months whilst they decide what they're doing (and we happily agreed).

We have had a couple of customers send units back as quite rightly, since WFH they've realised they don't need the units and once this blows over they will continue to WFH. On the flip side, we've had several customers take more cabins from us due to having to spread people out over the 2m rule, so that's been decent for us.

In the office everyday, no change. I'm not a key worker either.
I have had one day working from home, that been it.

I'm a university lecturer now, we're re opening for the end of September, but its a case of making sure that everyone is in work as little as possible for all of 2020.

Basically, unless you must do face to face teaching, you shouldn't be in the building until January at least.
