Seems a bit ridiculous that only Premier League clubs are meeting to discuss the issue, given obviously there's no down side to that for any of them. Anyone in the bottom half might as well agree to it, and anyone in the top half will probably be pretty ambivalent.
As you say, if that's the conclusion they might as well just sack the whole thing off, settle it on PPG but with no relegation. |  |

I’m sure there are several clubs that would want relegation abandoned regardless, but surely the suggestion there is that it should be abandoned if the season can’t be finished, rather than from a completed season? |  |

The motivation for trying to finish the season is to secure money from Sky & the other broadcasters. Obviously if there is no relegation, very few people will want to watch most of the games so then the broadcasters would reclaim or hold back more money. |  |

The clubs suggesting no relegation are only referring to a situation where the season can't be finished. They object to relegation on points per game based on an incomplete season. Even though it involves Norwich, I can see their point. The fixture list is never 'even' and history has thrown up some great escapes in the past.
Any attempt at relegation on PPG will result in litigation, and according to an expert on Radio 5 the clubs concerned would have a 50% chance of winning. They EPL is a company with each club holding one share and the FA has the only other share. The legal argument is based on company law and the protection afforded to minority shareholders where other shareholders take unfair action which prejudices the minority shareholders interests.
Norwich have also said they would challenge relegation if the Championship doesn't play to a conclusion but what basis they have for that argument I've no idea. |  | | |

I’m not sure the relegation battle generates that much in the way of viewers - a couple of games right at the tail end maybe but in reality I don’t think too many people care too much about watching Brighton v Watford, for example

But by that same token, you could argue that we would still have a chance of making the playoffs, however slim, so at which point does PPG become fair and not open to a litigation claim - only those that are mathematically absolutely unable to get promoted or relegated wouldn't be in the position to do so? |  |

For the majority of their excursions into the PL they have rarely ventured higher than the bottom 5 in the division for the majority of any given season. When you look at clubs like Sheffield, Fulham, WBA, Swansea, Burnley, Bournemouth & Palace to name just few recently promoted clubs that have all faired much better than narwich, yet they’d have us believe they are something special. Participants is Definitely a correct description for them ! | |
