Is it just me or is the injury statement from Lambert bull? 07:28 - Jun 10 with 3737 views | davblue | I don’t recall us having loads of injuries in Jan and Feb, certainly in March we had a few. The constant changing of playing style has been the biggest failing since he’s been here we’ve tried to play out from the back, we’ve gone direct, we’ve played on the counter early this season. We’ve tried to maintain possession, and then the overlapping centre halves. It’s no wonder players are confused and we have been a mess going forward in particular. He’s a lucky bloke to still have a job, I suspect costs have saved him but this season performances wise we were never at it even when we got to 12 points ahead, it was unconvincing, I suspect we are in this league for the long haul now.

Is it just me or is the injury statement from Lambert bull? on 10:28 - Jun 10 by Herbivore | Give Lambert his due, we were only about £45k a week away from getting Connor Wickham in on loan. |
We had a difference making striker lined up that fell through at the very last minute due to things way out of our control. Chelsea pulled the plug on Olivier Giroud to Newcastle Newcastle pulled the plug on Dwight Gayle to Forest Forest pulled the plug on Tyler Walker to us That may have been the difference to not fire 6 blanks in those key 9 games, despite not playing well

comment on Walker from Wiki On 2 August 2019, Walker joined League One side Lincoln City on loan for the 2019—20 season.[40][41] Manager Danny Cowley said that "he's been on our wish list forever."[42] After scoring 16 goals in 34 games for the "Imps", Walker was recalled to parent club Nottingham Forest by manager Sabri Lamouchi on 30 January.[43] He was then restricted to appearances from the substitutes bench at Forest, though did manage to score against league leaders Leeds United on 8 February.[44] He was cited as being the "next in line" by star striker Lewis Grabban.[45] He scored 14 in 29 for Lincoln so non too shabby

Got to have other options though, Joe. All our eggs in one basket isn't ideal.

When there isn't the quality available, and he's the one you want (long term) then it's a hard balance to strike in January

It is, but it's hard to believe that there was nobody else put there that could at least have done a job for us.

He would have been a good signing!

I refuse to believe that there wasn't, for example, a out-of-favour journeyman striker in the champ we could have picked up rather than the ludicrous chase for Wickham(if that was ever an actual, real thing).

Do you know if it was a permanent or loan deal for Walker? Presume loan?

Interesting. Suspect any permanent move would be off the cards now given the financial side of things. Good player to have on loan for a year though.

lets face we are pretty good at picking up crap out-of-favour injury prone journeyman strikers that must be a very long list!!

Now that would be a very good signing. Someone that has pedigree at this level and at 23 has the potential to develop even further. Although based on the last few seasons, our side still needs to work on supply into our strikers and get the midfield up in support far more than it has been doing for Walker to benefit. Presumably only a permanent target if we went up, and he did ok enough for us to want to sign him but not so well that the price quadrupled and he garnered interest from elsewhere?

And even a complete novice re tactics like me can see that you need a good settled side playing in a good settled formation so that they all get used to each other & play it instinctively, instead of having to re-set and adjust to all-change every week! #TacticalMerryGoRounds

Is it just me or is the injury statement from Lambert bull? on 08:15 - Jun 10 by Dubtractor | Yep. Reading that article got me annoyed about football for the fist time in months. We have been dreadful since the start of November, a lot of it self inflicted. |
