"Armed with a powerful intellect and vivid imagination, Logicians can overcome or outmaneuver obstacles that seem unbeatable to most. At the same time, their many quirks, such as often unconstrained rationalism, lead to many misunderstandings." Famous Logicians: Bill gates, Albert Einstein, Issac Newron, Rene Descartes.

Im a mediator too I did struggle with this question "You are dedicated and focused on your goals, only rarely getting sidetracked"

Actually, that is probably a fair reflection of what I bring to the football field these days.

Very good. I do wonder if any of the slackers on here agreed with that statement with a straight face.

What personality type are you? on 12:23 - Jun 11 by giant_stow | Yes its been around for a long time, along with a few other similar ones. Don't tell my mum (arf), but I largely agree with your horoscopes point - I used to wind her up by saying I was an xxxx (you get an x if you're right on the borderline between an E and I say). what fun. Haven;t done Dolly's test, but have a feeling this version might simplying it too much by telling people they're an Architect etc... Think there are more rigerous nuanced versions. |
I don't know how complex the original is but this one certainly gives a lot of detail - which was pretty spot on for me. Either way, it's quite interesting.

Great example of the Forer effect: "Psychologist Bertram Forer gave a personality test to his students and then asked each person to rate the accuracy of their ‘individual personality profile’. In reality, all the ‘individual profiles’ were identical but students tended to rate the descriptions as highly accurate. In fact, on a scale of 1-5, students rated the accuracy of their profile, on average, as 4.2." https://mindhacks.com/2009/11/16/you-are-kind-strong-willed-but-can-be-self-crit There's a Derren Brown video somewhere on the internet where he does a version of the experiment.

The Forer effect is more the general tendency of people to see themselves in vague, general statements.

A young lady I used to see worked for a company which provided personality tests for use by HR departments. I scored 2% empathy, apparently. But the scary thing is people are actually using these systems in recruitment processes. I'd be pretty hacked off if I was turned down for a job off the back of one of these.

These ones aren't vague though - they are very specific. I know what you mean though, and I've seen this before (like with horoscopes). This one seems a lot more thorough though (the final report covers Strengths & Weaknesses, Romantic Relationships, Friendships, Parenthood, Career Paths and Workplace Habits). Me, my missus and my work wife all had a go and came out with very different reports - which all matched our personalities.

Your strength is spotting weaknesses in things. Some people call you a pedant, or find you overly sceptical, but you don't care.
