Primary skool question... 20:24 - Jun 11 with 806 viewsBanksterDebtSlave

Any primary teachers on the board.. Miss Slave was told today that if a child falls and cries/needs a plaster then teachers are not to pick up said child and apply plasters but should call a parent if necessary. Can anybody confirm or deny?

Depends on the Risk Assessment of the school. Each school will have devised their own based on government guidelines. Mrs Fixed_It is a First Aider at her school and would have to don a face mask to deal with said child.

….on what the teacher's particular union tells them to do.

Pretty sure that's how it works.

No, we'd treat. Extend of PPE use is at the discretion of the teacher administering first aid.

We had parents asking why we wouldn't put sun cream on them though...

Exactly will depend on the school risk assessment. It should have been sent to you and if not you can request it. Most schools are going down the wear PPE to administer First Aid but I have heard of the calling in parents strategy. Dare I say a method for a school trying to put people off sending their children back or on the other hand one deeply concerned for staff safety. I will leave that for others to decide.

In my experience, they call an emergency ambulance.

Junior goes back to secondary on Monday. I was just curious.
