It's a great country in many ways, but also totally f*cked in quite a few other ways that really matter. |
I like America and I like most Americans. But there are aspects that are totally fcked, like gun control, levels of incarceration, policing and the widespread inequalities. The sheer number of homeless in big cities, many vets, is mind boggling.
Am sure many of the above are inter linked too. Trigger happy policing is no doubt partly due to the frequency with which they face guns themselves. I hate the phrase 'reap what you sow' as it fails to account for innocent victims, but as a society, the failure to act on the gun culture is a significant reason I believe in a militarised police force. And once you arm police, then the bad ones are a lot more dangerous to innocent people. |  |
