Respect for Marcus Rashford 10:14 - Jun 16 with 11915 views | usm | Seems a nice, genuine fella, making very good points - I wish him and his causes well. Just a couple of things - we do not know the circumstances but I wonder why his mum had 5 children that she could not afford, surely she'd have worked out after 2 or 3 that she couldn't afford any more. Many of us stopped having kids when we worked out how difficult it would be to bring them all up. The other thing - he tweeted about people having their water disconnected - but apparently that is impossible. As I said I wish him well, but these two things just jumped out at me.

And even if they do, it's not the childs' fault, is it?

Respect for Marcus Rashford on 10:52 - Jun 16 with 3464 views | factual_blue | He doesn't come from a single parent family, in fact his father is his agent. He has, so far as I can establish, two siblings, not four - brothers Dane and Dwayne. Disconnection of water supplies is entirely possible, and used to be done distressingly regularly until after the Water Industry Act of 1991.

Indeed a heartless bitch. In a previous life I worked in the ambulance service. We had a call on a Sunday from a church in Aldeburgh (I think) reporting an elderly member of the congregation who had fallen, was uninjured, but couldn't get up. We were busy, the call was a low priority, and so there was a bit of a wait. About 30mins later we received a call from the Chief Exec. of the trust, requesting that the call be treated as high priority and should be dispatched upon immediately. Apparently Ms Coffey was also present at the service, and had called the Chief Exec demanding that an ambulance be dispatched immediately, regardless of the nature of the incident, or what that ambulance was being diverted from. Heartless self-serving cow. [Post edited 16 Jun 2020 11:15]

People made assumptions about my step-mother like this because she got benefits with there being four of us. She adopted two of us after our father died. Families are not always simple.

Who is blaming the child/ren? Indeed who is blaming anyone? And I am led to believe it is possible to not conceive, other than in ultra exceptional circumstances.

What point are you actually trying to make here? Let's not beat around the bush - it is entirely possible to suggest that there might be racial undertones to your 'issues' with Rashford's campaign. Why not just come out with it?

Just read that - ouch - who's the politician again? Looks to me that he's left the govt with no choice but to do as he says - hats off, the man's probably achieved something important.

Oh come off it. Black single mothers and their 'too many kids' is one of the biggest racist tropes out there.

I understand what you are getting at- but its not really a racist trope. It is as commonly applied (probably more so) to certain sections of white society too.
| The presence of those seeking the truth is infinitely to be preferred to the presence of those who think they've found it.

Exactly. This trope - wrong as it is - is about poverty and in some cases religion. The fact that many racist societies have caused a large number of ethnic minorities to experience poverty does not in itself make it a racist trope.

Not sure if this is some elaborate whoosh, but he definitely mentions sisters in the interview - and married ones would be very hard to trace

He has a half-sister. Not sure she was part of the Rashford household as she is the daughter of Marcus's father.
