You called me "Stephen Yaxley-Lennon" and then went on to make general accusations that people were playing down racism when they were plainly not doing anything of the sort...

The punishment was over the top but we are not playing it down.....OK then

The SYL was as tongue in cheek as a comment can clearly get but i am sorry if you didn't take it that way. For the recofd here I don't actually think you are him but I do think he would have shared your view on this particular incident. This does not mean I believe that you share all views

you keep saying gdpr. Do you understand that gdpr is about protected personal information and none was used. Social media policy is highly probable because it is such a catch all policy but to keep quoting gdpr shows that you don't understand it

I gave GDPR training at my last place of employment mate, I'm well versed.

There are various control measures put in place to avoid potential GDPR breaches, these include things such as social media policy which by your own admission you almost certainly broke. Due to being a trainer and GDPR being a large part of my workload I tend to look at potential breaches/near misses just as seriously as breaches, that's how I maintain a high standard of work.
I've previously used a green, amber, red style chart of potential breaches and your comments would have been well within the amber zone.

If your post had happened and been reported to my place of work you would have been written up for a "near miss" and face a disciplinary.
You're obviously aware it's not the way a School governor should be conducting himself in public, hence requesting the post to be removed.

Similarly, I'm sure you'll be aware of the huge ramifications of any potential breach, again I use the word potential, as you are correct to highlight that no breach had yet taken place.

If you or any one at your School require further GDPR or Safeguarding refreshers I'm available at a very reasonable rate, it appears there's a potential gap in the governors training.

A tongue in cheek comment. Comparing someone to an overt racist thug?

Perhaps the kid's comment was tongue in cheek. I am sorry if people didnt take it that way.

You are both right, GDPR comes in regarding BF's access to the source of the data, ie, on which system was the data stored and how secure it was, as a Governor I suspect that was covered as that would have been in the agreement signed when BF became a Governor, but as for sharing that data publicy himself, that's where the Social Media Policy kicks in.

Don't forget, the GDPR rules apply to TWTD as well, so our information needs to be kept secure, and when we start sharing other poster's details, Phil must be tearing out what little hair he has left.

My golden rule, don't post publicly what you wouldn't post on your own company's network, and if in doubt, don't post at all..

Fortunately TWTD doesn’t have an all covering zero tolerance policy but relies on a common sense approach by contributors. Hence Bluefish rightly asked for his post to be removed, sadly he spoilt it by starting this thread.

OK, I'll leave it and it doesn't appear to be anything particularly sinister or unpleasant - unlike some previous incidents along these lines including two which ended up being police matters - just a nosiness as far as I can see.

Nothing sinister? I didn't report it but that is a strange take. They are sad fooks but they were clearly trying to bully or intimidate, they didn't do a very good job of it but it was obviously the intention.

Didn't strike me as quite like that, even if I can see why you'd be uncomfortable. Don't think it's something I'd particularly like to see become a regular occurrence.

3 posters that all have exception with me gleefully pasing around a photo of me. As I said I'm not particularly bothered (more confused by it) but there was no doubt whatsoever what they were up to. They were literally doing it in a thread I was in amongst themselves

Judging by the silly post that could have cost you your role as governor and now the revelation that strangers have managed to track you down and share photos of you online It's probably time you reviewed your security settings before things get out of hand for you.

Most Schools set out in their policy that you're to have all personal social media set to private if you are an employee/governor/etc.

Maybe it's also time to consider if being quite so outspoken and provocative online is worth jeopardising elements of your "real" life.
