Did your MP vote against regular covid testing for NHS & Social Care staff? 08:13 - Jun 25 with 2409 viewsartsbossbeard

Of course, hate crime enthusiast and Ipswich MP, Tom Hunt, voted against it.

Please note: prior to hitting the post button, I've double checked for anything that could be construed as "Anti Semitic" and to the best of my knowledge it isn't. Anything deemed to be of a Xenophobic nature is therefore purely accidental or down to your own misconstruing.

It is possible they did the right thing. There is a BBC story today saying even testing all NHs staff to see if they have had it may be a waste of time and money.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-53169618

Have a niece who is nurse at Addenbrookes, she had this test and was surprised to learn she had had it as she had not experienced any symptoms.

Might be a reason why quite a few doctors voted against it - including Poulter who has voted against the government before on NHS matters.

The thing is, whatever the desirability of regular testing, what the vote was asking for isn’t deliverable. A weekly test of every NHS and Social Care worker would require 3M tests per week. The motion proposer was even asked in the debate whether his call was for “weekly tests, no matter what or the possibility of weekly testing” He opted for the first definition which, frankly meant there was no chance of it being accepted.
