Tell us when they do Gloucestershire and I'll point out EdwardStone, though I don't think hermit fits him. Off grid better than 99.9% of us I'd say.

Fingers crossed for a 2020 BBQ

Apart from all the other sheer lunacy in there, I was struck by the amount of cups and mugs matey in the log cabin has on his wall.

Despite being in the middle of nowhere, he still seems optimistic of a number of simultaneous visitors.

It will be fine once you get BT to install a phone line for the broadband hub.

Except that will need an electricity supply.

Could always put up a little wind turbine I suppose.

But that might need planning permission.

And then you will start to fall out with your neighbours.

So you forget about the idea.

And just log on to TWTD once a month when you are in Fort William for the big shop.

Also a barber with gold discs on the wall.

BTW, my reply to Steve_M was just my way of deflecting attention away from the four in the Guardian article...

I was musing about how the journalist / photographer tracked them down, local who knows the patch well? Someone with a nose for and/or affinity with outsiders (although you could probably class most of Fort William as outsiders)?

Are you a bit of a hermit, Zombie?

Well, yes, it is a well known scientific fact that seven zombies make a hermit.

To be honest I am not very houseproud. I would quite like to live in a bothy full time rather than an occasional night away now and again, love the feeling of waking up miles from the nearest house and completely dependant upon my own resources.

But I also like my creature comforts, social life (when that returns) and a bit of culture. So my ideal home would be a cave halfway up a mountain but with a sizeable town at the foot. So more of a grinch than a hermit. Although you could say that when there are a number of people hurling futile, groundless and humourless insults at the Town it possible to have a low lying City full of grinches...

Hopefully that was on the understanding that he was a very good, but not always law abiding, defender.

I think you have misunderstood one of the main reasons people become hermits.
