Remember when we held Burton to a plucky 0-0 while Darren Bent was at the height of his powers?

Blimey, a blast from the past. I'd forgotten about him. He was Lyall's assistant wasn't he?

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

He was.

Then he took over from him as manager for a short while.

..well, sort of.

He was manager in the sense of a modern manager, effectively Head Coach with a Director of Football.

But to all intents and purposes, he was our manager.

Well there is actually an International Dinosaur Day.

It’s observed on the third Tuesday in May and annually on June 1st

Was he? I missed that lol. In my defence it was University days, so they're all a bit hazy

To be fair, I was only about 12 at the time! So this is just my recollection.

Maybe Phil will clarify. But I seem to recall Lyall being 'moved upstairs' and Mick McGiven taking over first team duties.

That’s how I remember it as well. Think the Evening Star ran a front page with the headline ‘Where are you John? Or words to that effect.

Yes, that was the case 'team manager' I think was how it was phrased. Was for the middle season in the Premier League first time around. If I remember rightly, the set-up was changed at the start of the next season with Paul Goddard and Warky taking on a similar sort of position between them. Really was a bit of a mess structure-wise towards the end of the Lyall era.

Who needs points when you can have Performances of the Improved nature?

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.
