Wow, some bloated squads out there. Some of them are clearly at the end of their careers but that’s a lot of unemployed players from the top two divisions. This is where agents really earn their corn.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

That’s some serious cost cutting in the top two divisions. Just wait for the lower leagues to take their turn.
The sxxx is about to hit the fan.

No doubt we will still get the usual names shouting Evans out and complaining that we are not buying quality players 😂😂😂😂

Not ALL of those players have been 'released'.

Bournemouth would have loved to have kept Fraser, but he ran his own contract down.

There will be a lot of similar examples.

Interesting to read, but I can't see many of those being interested in a move to Ipswich.

Dion-Curtis Henry has been released by Palace, he's an Ipswich lad so could maybe see him coming in as second choice keeper.

The vast majority will be the club getting rid of players that are no longer required though. Yet strangely it is the minority of players that have chosen not to extend their contract for an extra month or so that are getting the ire of supporters

Jeff Hendrick is a strange one. I couldn't believe what I was seeing when Burnley spent £11m on him off the back of the Euros, but to release him at 28 seems odd given he's played a fair amount of football for them since.

Jordan Ibe at Bournemouth too, Eddie Howe spent £15m on him. £15m! He's pony.

Jonathan Grounds will be a good signing for someone in lower Championship / upper L1. Very good and experienced left sided defender.

I remember a couple of Liverpool supporters I know claiming that Ibe was better than Sterling around the time they flogged Raheem to City :')

Looks like Hendrick rejected a contract, rather than them not extending. Weird time to decide not to renew.

That makes sense. I would think he'll do well to go to anyone better than Burnley and actually play. Must be banking on a big pay cheque from somewhere. Or just desperate to get out of Burnley, which is fair enough from a geographical point of view.

Jordan Ibe - signed for £15m, now released. Waste of money, or a saving on (probably enormous) wages?

Both I would say. Huge waste of money, but that transfer fee is a sunk cost, they're not getting anything close to that back for him now. He's not a Premier League player, so no doubt its a good opportunity for B'mouth to not sink a further few million a year into him by way of salary. He'll sign for a Swansea or Boro on £20k a week and be distinctly average for them.

Possibly not for Middlesbrough after their home defeat to QPR yesterday leaving them in the relegation zone.

That's true, they're looking in danger for sure. It's getting really interesting at the bottom of the Championship to see who we're likely to be playing next season. Luton and Barnsley seemed to be picking up but both had shockers at the weekend. The 3rd spot looks likely to be a 'big' club by L1 standards - Boro, Hull, Huddersfield etc. Certainly not getting any easier for us!

The reason that I was disappointed to see Middlesborough lose was a hope that all the teams below Wigan would gain enough points to overtake that club in administration (as it looks likely that the twelve point deduction will not be applied until next season). A Wigan team with the wheels off the bandwagon and financially impoverished would be a better bet for us to finish above in the Third Division next season compared to Middlesborough, Hull or Stoke.

Ibe was a decent prospect in fairness. In the grand scheme £15m is not a lot.
