There is delay and uncertainty around Clarke-Harris future, though, because understandably there is further interest out there, most notably from Ipswich Town who Bristol Live understands have begun undertaking background checks on the striker, speaking to former coaches and teammates

He'd be ideal. Would be a fairly chunky 6-figure fee though I would guess.

I'd definitely be up for that - quick, strong and scored a good amount in an average side.

This has to be BS.

Clarke-Harris is exactly the type of striker we need, pacy, powerful, can drop deep, go wide and can finish.

He's at a good age. Able to improve further.

Proven at this level. At a club who we'd be a step up from. Not so promising that we couldn't afford him.

Exactly the sort of player we should be looking at. Which is why the clueless powers that be at PR won't be even remotely aware of him :(

Also mentions we're targeting him as Norwood may be on the move.

That explains this 'link'. Agent doing his/her work by the sounds of it.

Let's hope he doesn't do any background checks on us.

That article later goes on to say:

"but with James Norwood potentially on the move, they could soon be urgently in need of a central goalscoring frontman."

That's news, unless they know something Phil doesn't.

I'd not be remotely fussed if that is the case, so long as we get a replacement. He doesn't offer enough and for a goalscorer his finishing is dreadful.

I think it's fair to say that we've learnt why he's never played at a higher level than he has this season.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

The article indicates that Clarke-Harris has also had several injury issues, seems like an Town player already.

If Norwood were to leave, Clarke-Harris ok, but would still be looking at Armand Gnaduillet on free from Blackpool.

I wouldn't rule that out TBH. I don't have any def info, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if he is off. I'm not sure who, at this time especially, would be willing to take a punt on him though given he's probably on a decent wage and for the most part last season he looked out of shape and unfit. He's a goalscorer, but he doesn't strike me as the most professional athlete we've ever had. Maybe a Coventry, someone like that might have a punt on him on a free.

Unfortunately I wouldn’t be surprised if he left but really hope he stays.

I'd rather let Keane go than Norwood - all depends on money though I suppose

Not sure we would be in a position to command too much of a fee for him. £300k a year off the wage bill to spend elsewhere is valuable in itself.

I don't think we saw the best of him, but there does seem to be clear issues around his professionalism - I think we should keep him though and try and get him fit as he was clearly struggling last year
