Seems the number of deaths from Covid-19 is a lot higher than in some countries because the last two bouts of flu were milder than usual. As a result more old people survived the last two winters and were easy targets for Covid.
It's definitely not the fault of the PM who went around hospitals shaking hands in March whilst ignoring hundreds of scientists telling him to lockdown 3 weeks earlier than he did.

What’s incredible, and we will never know the amount, is that Boris almost certainly passed on the virus to people by shaking their hands when he had already caught it and before he was symptomatic.
Some of those would have fallen seriously ill or worse.

At the end of January, Germany were reporting 32 deaths from flu this year. A lot of cases, but not many deaths. Doesn't seem that they had much of a cull of the weakest heading into the coronavirus wave either.
Bottom line is we handled this terribly badly.
Oh well, vote in a known lazy liar and you'll get a lack of attention to details and a lot of lies. And he's delivered those in spades. It's what people wanted after all.

Think it is more that they didn't fancy the alternative that was on offer. It was the loss of Labour seats that gave Boris his working majority.

Seems insane thinking about it.
Tbf the CMO (or whatever) to his right backs him up and says wash your hands. Absolute madness.

I suspect you're right (although think that's a wrong decision by those involved to be fearful of the unknown rather than the proven known incompetence/lying/cheating/law breaking).
