Glad it's not just me not seeing it. There's just something missing about the vibe of the place: it's a bit dead behind the eyes! Not so up on the south and west - name a place I should drive to next time I get to visit Frome way if you would please.

The Quantocks are a hidden gem - a sort of pocket-sized Exmoor or Dartmoor. Nice for a wander and a view up to Bristol and over to Swansea. Plus lots of great pubs in and around.

If the locals aren;t up for it, that explains the lack of energy I spose.

Bradford-on-Avon, and Bath of course. Wells and Wookey Hole further West.

Frome is certainly a proper hippy dippy place- but its quite pleasant, and has one of the finest Thai restaurants to be found anywhere imo. In theory full of cool independent shops, but I never seem to find anything I want to buy in them. Save perhaps the vinyl shop and the deli place which has a lot of good cheese.

Despite it not being in Somerset Bradford on Avon is nice. West Bagborough in the Quantocks is THE place though.

Anyone know / been to Bruton? on 21:48 - Jul 10 with 967 views | Warkystache | They flock there 'cos it's become the Hoxton of Somerset. People love to think they're hip and trendy and part of some 'in-crowd' when they're about as far from it as deepest Mars. Why do you think Walberswick is so popular with the trendy London types, with its unmade roads and sewage outflow pipes? Or Cley or Burnham Market in scum land with their one grocers and narrow streets and houses made from pebbles and bits of flint?

Walberswick is popular because it's the place where you catch the little ferry to Southwold.

The George used to be a great place. I hope it is still - or will be again soon, as the case may be.
