I visited Bosnia around five years ago. I was very surprised to bump into British squaddies on patrol as peacekeepers. Old tensions still very much tense it seems.

I’ve seen it said on here recently that talking about genocide and racism from the past is a good way to deflect from denying systematic racism in 2020.
But the fact that in our lifetimes and the lifetimes of our parents we have seen so called civilised Western countries commit genocides such as the Holocaust and Srebrenica should be a lesson that it can easily happen again.
I dont think you'll find much admission of responsibility for the deliberate culling of tens of thousands of old and vulnerable people, rather more recently, a bit closer to home either.
Nor much guilt from the 42% of the electorate that voted in a bunch of incompetent chancers whos irrational idiocy has cost so many lives - and will continue to do so for many years after they have gone.

Not entirely sure how your trolling is still allowed on here to be honest.
I could address the post but it's not relevant to this thread. Perhaps you can start another with your points clearly outlined on how there is a definite equivalence?

Jesus Christ. Completely lack of class from you again.
That beautiful picture is exactly 8372 cups of traditional Bosnian coffee. Yesterday in Srebrenica, Bosnia, they poured a cup of coffee for each of the men and boys who were taken away and murdered by Ratko Mladić’s forces there during 11-22 July 1995. https://t.co/hkSOlzmt30

That's very sobering. The Bosnian people are very hospitable. My second night there me and the family were invited to a complete strangers house for food. The first thing they did was made us traditional coffee. That picture is so sad.

Bosnia remains one of my favourite places. Absolutely beautiful and amazing people.
Yet in a few places and social situations the prejudices and scars were openly discussed and it was quite shocking and uncomfortable as outsiders. The only parallel I can think of is listening to a plastic SYL type.
But the difference is they were killing each other and the men telling me saw it all themselves as young lads. Their disdain for other groups was rooted in experience and that was far harder to comprehend.
I saw a fascinating article about Milosevic's wife recently and how she was a "Lady MacBeth" type first wife and one of the most brutal and bloodthirsty in her own right, I'll try and find it if I can.
The few Dutch people I know who have posted about Srebrenica also hold some fascinating views on it.
On this subject if you've never seen this film it really is worth watching. It's a tad brutal in parts but very good. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120070/

Was it Srebrenica the Dutch were driven out of, by Serb forces?
The Bosnian hosts we were with went a bit quiet when we we mentioned the war, so we quickly changed the subject.
It is a beautuful country isn't it? The scenery is just breath taking. I absolutely loved Mostar and Sarajevo.

Shameful that we dithered and delayed before going in. See also Syria in 2013.
To begin with we were on the side of the Serbs. We had a pretty good relationship with the Yugoslav regime before the split. The government wanted to carry that on with the Serbs, who in effect were the Yugoslav regime.

Yep both beautiful cities, as is the countryside between it. We stayed on the border with Montenegro and went into the national park where the Partisans fought the Nazis in ancient woodland. The country is steeped in amazing history, the synagogue the Ottamans built for the local population and the Olympic Park fascinated me.
As for the Dutch role it's highly controversial so I'll not add any opinion

He wrote a shïtty football blog and somehow that let's you get away with anything apparently.
Pronouns: He/Him/His.
"Imagine being a heterosexual white male in Britain at this moment. How bad is that. Everything you say is racist, everything you say is homophobic. The Woke community have really f****d this country."
I've watched that before. As you said, very educating and sobering. I remember the first guy called to give evidence. What an ordeal it must have been for him under that sort of intense pressure and scrutiny.

I do love the Storyville documentaries on BBC iPlayer. The OJ Simpson one (5 parts) is well worth a watch. And the one on Jonestown too. I've enjoyed most of those.

I had seen the Ratko Mladic a few weeks ago , I finished watching the one on The Black Panthers earlier this morning. After seeing the 'Arena' programme 'I Am Not Your Negro' (which only has five and a half days left on the iPlayer now) and the films 'Selma' and 'Suburbicon' recently that has added to my knowledge of why the reforms made to the law in the United States back in the Sixties have not been as beneficial as they should have been. That OJ Simpson series has a bearing on this too.
