Paul Mariner, Alan Brazil. Both great goal scorers. Crawford in his pomp was just before my time, but my old man reckoned he was the best finisher he saw in a Town shirt.
We have no village green, or a shop.
It's very, very quiet.
I can walk to the pub.

In my memory Brazil never missed in a one on one with the 'keeper and was a natural goalscorer. Stewart was a natural I would say.
DJ Campbell?
No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

David Johnson. 1st & 2nd Darren Bent
The great thing about the second David Johnson and, especially, Darren Bent was that they could dig out opportunities for themselves as well as feed off the service they got from a, usually, positive driving force from midfield and others in the attack. Paul Mariner was even better at this and Marcus Stewart was in the same bracket. Brazil I think prospered because he was in and around a marauding attack who often pulled the opposition all over the place.
Even in what we used to regard as fallow years we had forwards who knew how to turn half chances and lost causes into goals, Ian Marshall and Alex Mathie come to mind. And a forward who didn't chase lost causes so as to preserve his energy for decent chances in Marcus Bent, but he got castigated for that. Jason Scotland was another who had a box of tricks that reaped its rewards. Pablo Couñago gets lost amongst all of these due to his specialised, and therefore limited, firepower.
I'm, just, too young to have seen the Phillips and Crawford combination; I did see plenty of the prolific John O'Rourke and Frank Brogan (as well as the slightly less free scoring Frank Clarke) but my adolescence is wanting when you are asking for appreciation of natural goal scoring qualities. And I have now got the feeling that I have left an important name (edit - apart from Shefki) out of this.

For a period of about 18 months Alan Brazil with a one on one with the keeper was almost as certain a goal as a John Wark penalty so Brazil was a great natural goalscorer for us.
Like your old man Ray Crawford always gets my vote for our best ever centre forward and by implication best ever goal scorer although he would almost certainly not have got so many without the rebounds from Ted Phillips shots off the keeper or woodwork.
THE best goalscorer that I have ever seen play was Jimmy Greaves.

Stewart and Reuser. Both had the ability to score goals out of nothing. I think natural indicates a range of different goals that others wouldn't necessarily even try. Or they would take a shot before others expect them to because they can be that accurate.

In the sixty years I have been watching Town I would say John O'Rourke
Your rose tinted specs are deceiving you with Whymark.... he was never a prolific scorer, apart from against Lazio.
Its difficult to compare different eras..... Crawford was clearly a natural goalscorer... as was Stewart.... none of the Robson era internationals were prolific scorers - apart from John Wark.
Assumption is to make an ass out of you and me.
Those who assume they know you, when they don't are just guessing.
Those who assume and insist they know are daft and in denial.
Those who assume, insist, and deny the truth are plain stupid.
Those who assume, insist, deny the truth and tell YOU they know you (when they don't) have an IQ in the range of 35-49.

Being of similar ages would have to agree on Ray Crawford. Scored from outside box and from two yards and via many headers. While Brazil was indeed a great one-on-one finisher, did he ever score with his head?
Modern day, Stewart by a country mile. Bent needed more chance than Stewart. Older times, Mariner, Brazil. Gates on his day was superb. Crawford must be in the top 5.
