Wilfred Zaha tweet 15:16 - Jul 12 with 3769 viewsMullet

I’ll Remove it actually given it’s content, but he’s made it public and rightly received nothing but backing from the public.

However, Ian Wright makes this valid point too.

It isn’t enough to call it out or just say they’re not one of us is it? I get why people do it, and it’s not exactly misguided but these people are amongst us all not just in a football context. We don’t instinctively reject their Britishness or class do we? It seems the reaction to BLM from threatened little boys is inevitable and this will likely lead to a conviction judging by tweets from West Mids Police, but it does make you wonder what the next steps are for football.

At times the homophobia, racism etc makes me think the game is just backward and will always be so but that isn’t true either. This is a social media/education/acceptance problem that combines to put people like Zaha in this position of waking up to abuse because of their profile and identity. When people can hide behind tribalism and keyboards they’re always going to resort to this lowest denominator type of stuff aren’t they?

I've just seen the tweet and the images in them.

I'd gladly shoot any of those racist scumbags sending out this sh1t.

i've seen this all my life ,by having a mum of mixed race. most of it was in the 50s and 70s.
i thought it was getting better now, but its not by the looks of things.
at 71 i've seen a lot of things get better in my time, but for some reason this racial abuse will not go away. to think labour introduced a Race Relations Act in 1965 and over 50 years later we still have this.

Report there saying it was a 12 year old kid.

If that is so, then that's even worse. That's not even a horrible **** of a certain age with nasty bygone views, but a new generation, part of which we like to hope has overcome much of this nonsense.

I've had many a story related to me about my mum and her siblings receiving abuse for their skin when they were children.

Their mum was Maltese so they were a shade or 2 darker than many of the other kids.

To be honest, I got it myself for having darker features when I was at a Primary school in Elmswell. A 6 year old being the 'P' word by other kids wasn't a nice start to school in Suffolk. Not that I knew what it meant or what 'one' was, but it clearly wasn't intended to be nice.

I dunno about that, buh. TikTok is full of far-right, racist sh1t. And then the teenagers progress on to dumps like 4chan, where it's all a big act really, but some of them do get draw in.

12 years old isn't how we remember it now. No scrumpin' or crabbin', just wired into weird softcore tweenage porn, alt-right nonsense and K-Pop videos. Bunch of wrong 'uns.

Really? I've obviously heard of TikTok but thought it was just some video sharing service thing.

I really have little idea of what's going on with the kids.

When I was driving kids in taxis most of them were listening to stuff like S-Club 7!

I blame the parents and sweary t-shirts.

Aye. It's meant to be a music video sharing app for kiddies, but it's been hijacked by the usual stuff...

I'm not on that, but a mate who's a primary school teacher has shown me the sh1t that's posted on there- it's nuts! All the kids watch it and copy it. Obviously.

And as the clips on there are so short and they watch it for hours at a time, it's no wonder some of the ideas seep in. Tbh, it's more the normalisation of underage sexual behaviours which worries more than the alt-right nonsense.

I couldn't believe it when my mate just put that in the group chat. You'd struggle to convince me it didn't in some form come from the parents either. That sort of behaviour is learnt so either they have no idea/interest in what their child is consuming or they have presumably encouraged these attitudes in some form.

It's classic anti-social behaviour from the products of a broken society. Could be anything: graffiti*, vandalism, extreme piercing*, converting to Islam and fighting for Islamic state - there are people who quickly recognise / believe they have no hope in normal society and just do things to gain attention. Look at all the stories of people who have, for example, reformed themselves after being in far right groups, and it's not really (deep down) about hating a certain race, it's about joining a community of other 'misunderstood' people who hate themselves above all else and who have no meaningful support from anyone outside their bubble.

*Not all of these are 'bad' but can still be defined as 'antisocial' in a pure sense

It's come from somewhere hasn't it, and a comment like that has rolled off the tongue a bit too easily so yes, it's been normalised behaviour for him.

Horrible isn't it.

I'm a little dubious, given what was posted, that it genuinely came from a 12 year old.

I'm also bloody depressed at the idea that it might have done.

For a twelve year old to be coming out with that, he or she has either been groomed, neglected or both, and he or she doesn’t belong in the home environment that is currently the case.

You both have a point, and as you both say all influence counts and conditions us, especially around that age.

Kids tend to copy behaviour and it's more than possible, if not likely, the child's parents hold some unsavoury views and that they've been extra vocal the past couple of years.

It must be a similar pattern across the country for ignorant people who unfortunately have decided to breed.

Disagree. Think a lot of people are underestimating the will and intelligence of some 12 year olds. They're not children really, are they? They have far more autonomy and 'sense' (sort of) than some seem willing to accept.
