7 months after they won a landslide. in the middle of a national crisis. four and a half year's before the next election. it's not that surprising. but is does make you you realise the extreme unrepresentativeness of the twtd bubble.

after the car crash of the election and what led up to it, it was always going to be a very very long way back for the opposition. there is a huge amount of credibility to be regained.

And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show

But not when you think about the standard of our politics/media over the past decade or more.

This is a systems failure. (Or a success depending on your perspective).

This is a country that voted for the ideal that leaving the biggest trading bloc in the world will improve our economy.

Nothing surprises me anymore.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

More the fact that the vitriol that comes with 'having a view'.

Gone are the days where people seemed to be able to get along but have differing views and opinions without it degenerating into a slanging match or mass generalisations.

It's OK to have different views, it's OK to support different political parties. It's OK to support the notion of a political party even if you personally don't agree with every single aspect or policy of that party.

I think "having a view" and putting that above objective facts and debate is the big problem.

Our politics and media are absolutely dominated by these people.

Who is the black line? Just a generic other.

It's good to be ahead in the polls, but there is still a long way back for Labour, people aren't going to start looking at the detail of the Tories failures until this is over and there is a chance for a re-established Labour party to start spelling it out. Foundations are still going down currently - traps being laid on a weekly basis for them.

True. Not helped by the Labour infighting either. I see that the Corbyn tribe are attacking the Guardian now; absolute madness.

I'm not sure enough people will ever be interested in the detail. We are to a maddeningly large extent a country of people who think everything is a bit of a laugh and that they know best. The Calvin Klein jokes and all the rest are repugnant but they sure do a job.

The majority of the public are essentially completely apolitical so it's easy to win them over with a headline (good or bad) or a few empty promises here and there. Very few people vote Tory because of deeply held political convictions, they vote for them because they're scared of the alternatives (aided by the media) or they like the promise of a few more quid in their pocket and don't really care that the trade off is under investment in public services and stitching up the young and poor.

Unfortunately I think the Guardian's editorial position over the last few years has been pretty poor.

As much as anyone supposedly outside the Labour party itself, they've been invested in the factionalism, backstabbing and ultimately an inability to cope with a challenge to the status quo.

There's still time for them to rehabilitate themselves in my eyes but, as it stands, they're part of the problem unfortunately.

that's the thing with bubbles - you're either with us or you're against us - there is nothing else. the poor old guardian wasn't quite loyal enough to corbyn so it's now part of the reason he lost. only squawk box and the canary stuck to the script.

"wasn't quite loyal enough"!??

While handwringing over the need to get the Tories out, they led the personal attacks as you well know.
