Codladh Sámh.

Great moments but generally not great football. It was about more than football though.

What struck me about seeing that was how packed it was with team players for their club sides. Lots of them playing in top league sides like Man U, Liverpool, and Arsenal but none of them were standout barring perhaps McGrath as even Aldridge was second string behind Ian Rush.

Just shows what's possible even on the world stage with the right teamwork, effort and spirit.

Mick Mac told a lovely story this morning of Jack getting pelters from some N.I. fans during a match....he took out a cigarette, turned around and asked for a light....at which point about 30 of said detractors started reaching in to pockets wanting to oblige!

"They break our legs and tell us to be grateful when they offer us crutches."
Poll: If the choice is Moore or no more.

You are not wrong but Ronnie Whelan was a very underrated in that team. Like you say, what great things can be done with modest resources when you have a good plan and stick to it. Jack never really used Liam Brady, probably the most talented midfielder of that or any other era, because he did not fit the plan. Likewise Mick did something similar no doubt influenced by Jack. Seems like our current manager has more of an idea than a plan and some days the idea goes out the window! The chopping and changing destroyed any cohesion that the team might have had. Back to simple basics next season and there might be some hope for us. Defending sensibly and passing the ball forward to a colleague would be a good start.................... and PUT THEM UNDER PRESSURE!
