Brewery update 15:10 - Jul 27 with 5460 viewsBluefish

as a few of you helped and showed an interest

Shortlist down to 2 now

Greene King or Coors via a wholesaler

If we go with GK we've now decided to put 2 hand pulls in from the start for cask. These may not necessarily have a beer attached to them straight away or we may have a limited smaller cask initially.

This means we will then have own brand pilsner, san miguel, east coast ipa and Stowford press or Aspalls

Line up tbc with coors but probably coors light, staropramen, Atlantic (keg) and doom bar on the hand pull, again with probably Aspalls cider

Thoughts?

If you're in East Anglia, I'd go for GK. Surely likely to be more popular with the locals.

I'm in Derby so not really a great deal of difference for up here. I like the idea of GK so I can bore all of my customers with stories about Suffolk though. My kids were all born in BSE so I feel a connection

It should go without saying that obviously it's subjective.

However, with that being said I think you'd struggle to find anyone that would call a Greene King beer one of their favourites, they are just pretty poor.
Local link and memories of them donning our shirts aside, not a great company.

I doubt many session beers and standard pub offerings are peoples favourite beers. We have a 2nd hand pull for guest ales and it is agreed that I can have outside guests in occasionally. That might see an opportunity for hoppy robson

this is my view on it and I just like the idea of having suffolk written all over the place. I am obviously very well known as a town fan so the locals will appreciate seeing suffolk written everywhere

On that note the car in front at the maccy d's drive through last week had a town sticker in the back window. Not exciting if you live in EA but bloody exciting when you live up here

Sounds like you're going to the wrong pubs mate.

Josh (TIB) is a top man, known him since I was a teenager and his beers are a decent tipple. He won't let you down.

the brewery are shelling out about £4k to fit my cellar out. They are going to want mass market products initially

Just check how long you’re tied into them. They should be all over you at the moment with the current climate so take them for all they’re worth. Send over beer prices if you want and I can feedback. You are essentially free of tie, all you’re doing is renting their cellar equipment.

Adnams will have Suffolk written all over it too, with a better range.

In my experience the yokals do like their beer from Burton though I wasn't a fan.

Catchers is offering decent advice though so I'll leave it to the experts.

Top notch beer. But I'll bet its not the real stuff. It will be the lousy generic crap they brew in one huge vat at Burton or wherever and label as a fine beer.

See also stella, kronenbourg, tyskie, Heineken and many many others.
