I misread half your first sentence there and thought you were going on a hot date with Sitters for a minute.

Definitely not now. I was down in North Norfolk for a week.

The amount of people acting selfishly/carelessly was appalling. If there isn't a massive spike across the South East and similar lockdowns after this summer I'll be amazed frankly. Although it might show that the danger has massively receded if there isn't a huge rise.

Had we not booked it months ago I'd have stayed home in hindsight.

Covid-19 is at less than 1 in every 100,000 in Suffolk.

Blimey, someone from a very high Covid-19 infection area visits a very low infection area and labels others as selfish.

Going to Cafe Spice Namaste in E1 on Wednesday. Booked it without realising they are in the govt scheme. Happy to have paid full price, so I'll buy far higher up the wine list than usual!

I’m not sure why a dine-in establishment wouldn’t sign up - any downside?

Just might get a different set of clientele. Customers not understanding how the offer works eg no
alcohol discount, may be unhappy with the bill.
Other than that it’s a win win.

Currently‘helping out’ at Maharani. The owner said he didn’t want to be overwhelmed by customers as he is only able to have reduced number of staff and didn’t want to compromise his reputation. So there’s that

Yeah in Blackpool on mini break. Only us and another couple here. Excellent cleaning routine by them here and room separation. Had wetherspoons meal. Same set up with tables plus loads of antibacterial everywhere.

No. You just turn up. As many times as you like. The restaurant will automatically apply a 50% discount up to a £20 a head spend.

No codes or vouchers needed.

Has anybody asked you not to apply the discount as they find it an inappropriate use of tax?

Edit....surely money better spent in food banks or some such if the tree of money is feeling so benevolent.

Not quite right. It's 3 per 100k last week and this went down from the previous week.

It's a fair point though, Suffolk generally appears pretty sensible.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

It's a shame you only ever seem to appear on threads to take a pop at people, Gary. I'd like to see you be more constructive and making more of a positive contribution in your posting. Will you be taking advantage of the eat out to help out scheme or will you give it a swerve for now? I think I will, maybe next week. Have been out for dinner a couple of times already and a few outdoors pub visits as well. Good systems in place here so it's felt pretty safe and I want to do my bit to help local businesses.

Why. This is a scheme designed to boost the hospitality industry, which is in its arse and is a major tax contributor to the UK economy.

An economy isn’t something that’s “nice to have”. It’s a the way tax revenue raised in order to have a health and education service.

If the economy crashes there will be many millions more people needing food banks and millions more people in poor health.

Hardly a day passes without hearing , or reading, about restaurants that will not be re-opening. Black Rock in Hopton on sea closed for good, had email over weekend.

Hope everyone is tipping well.

Pizza Express about to close a number of restaurants. I’ve seen a lot of shocked Central London restaurant and bar owners generally about 70% yoy decline.
We’re in the middle of nowhere, big garden and busy - but safely. Oct - Feb is when we’ll really see what’s what.

Dole scum mentality innit...only in many cases from people who don't need government hand outs who could afford to pay. However being the descendants of rampant Thatcherite selfishness and not thinking of the bigger picture they just cash in regardless.
