Ipswich Town Hall of Fame 16:05 - Aug 5 with 1554 views

Was just wondering how certain former players are selected for our Hall of Fame?

Just seems a bit odd that Hermann Hreidarsson and Jason de Vos are there but Marcus Stewart and Jim Magilton aren't. Obviously not meant as a slight on the first two, but if they have been inducted, why not Magilton and Stewart?

Also, no Tom Garneys despite being our fourth-highest goalscorer, ahead of Mariner, Whymark, Gates, Brazil...?

I will add that I'm glad ours isn't like Norwich's, where you simply have to turn up and play a few games and that seems to be worthy of a place.

I think a number of the 2000 squad would have been inducted this year had the dinner taken place. They usually try to induct people in years they can make it. The Ex-Players' Association make the selections.

David Rose deserves to be there.

Trevor Kirton should be on there as well. A great man who was Town's kit man coach driver for years. He also gave me a players issue 1988/89 season home shirt at the end of that season. It's a beauty. Centenary crest and all. As worn by David Lowe.
