£10 for the friendly streams is ridiculouos 10:48 - Aug 20 with 7812 views | kizaitfc | I get that it obviously helps the club in these very difficult times. But where is the thank you to the fans that have supported the club through these tough times particularly the ones that have just last month donated their Season Ticket Refund to the club. Would we have even charged £10 for the match day ticket of the WestHam friendly?

£10 for the friendly streams is ridiculouos on 11:35 - Aug 20 by thatdamgood89 | I do feel like a feel-good PR moment was lost. It's a 2 pm kick-off on a Tuesday afternoon. Most are back to work. You could have simply lost the commentary, provided one camera angle, and given it for free on social media and website, etc.. However, there are of course costs involved so you can see some 'logic' behind the fee. Sometimes you gotta have what supermarkets call loss leaders this was probably one of those moments. |
How do you think showing this game for free would ultimately lead to greater revenue down the line?

£10 for the friendly streams is ridiculouos on 11:56 - Aug 20 with 2055 views | JammyDodgerrr | can't quite believe the moans on this - it would cost far more than £10 to go the match and we are still supporting the club who have lost a massive percentage of their income. Don't like it, don't pay it. Same as if you were to go to a friendly. Streaming these matches has quite often been a tenner, so.

The same people moaning about a tenner, are the same one's who happily order a Dominos at £20 a pop. Insight - it actually costs Dominos 88p to produce a large pizza that retails at £16.99

But those who are working will be too busy to watch it surely???? So for those who have times on their hands to watch it you might as well charge £10, after all £10 buys you nothing these days. I think supermarkets go with loss leaders because they know people will buy other things not sure what else I will be buying from ITFC while/after watching a friendly game involving Town, maybe a beer at the local but not sure that will give ITFC any money

How about buying a ticket? Or an I Follow subscription service? The game could have been see as a good way of trying to get people in that maybe aren't impressed with the new signings or who have just fallen out of love with football in general? A free game IMO is more likely to entice those people back to watch you in turn may get them more interested for the season. [Post edited 20 Aug 2020 12:10]

£10 for the friendly streams is ridiculouos on 11:05 - Aug 20 by kizaitfc | NO of course not, and that is not appropriate logic to take. Live streams are normally £10 with match day tickets at around £25-£30, so if anything you are strengthening my point that a friendly that would have had tickets at sale for approx £10-£15 shouldn't be charging £10 per stream. Look I understand both clubs want to make money, I just think some sort of goodwill gesture to the fans would not have gone a miss. I mean we have already missed our last game of the season free pint from Paul Lambert |
Bit like saying you should pay less at the cinema if you want to watch a less popular film. If anything, demand will be lower so it's harder for these providers to make money streaming a friendly. They still have all the fixed costs to pay for, just presumably no rights issues.

Seems highly unlikely. The game is on at 2pm on a Tuesday and it's a friendly. Anyone who isn't fussed by Town currently isn't going to be watching it regardless of whether it's free or it costs a tenner. It's rather fanciful to think that streaming this game for free would lead to any ticket sales or iFollow subscriptions at all, let alone enough to make up for any losses incurred in showing the game for free.

He's right about Domino's though. Terrible stuff. What the fck is a hotdog crust and why would I pay ~£20 for one?! But many do. The correct takeaway of choice is, of course, an Indian.

Hotdog crust sounds revolting. I used to live in Frankfurt for a few months and went properly off hot dogs after a terrible experience with a Kasekrainer but that's another story. One of the contributing factors to me cutting a lot of meat out when I moved back. Don't disagree on Dominos in terms of value to be fair, but there's a time and a place for a pizza. Nice garlic & herb dip for the crusts. I would go Chinese, then "Indian" / Bangladeshi, then Thai. All ahead of pizza normally. I do love a good naan bread & curry.

£10 for the friendly streams is ridiculouos on 10:50 - Aug 20 by uefacup81 | I dare say the WHU friendly would have been £10-£15. Given that any fee for such things is likely to be split 50/50 between the two clubs, it seems a reasonably fair price. Nobody's forcing you to pay it. |
When people are whinging about £5 - £10 for a stream they either value that money at what it was in 1995 and still think it's expensive or they have been so spoiled by the Netflix/Spotify pricing model that sees none of the artists get paid a fair amount that they now expect that of football as well. I am glad football is charging a fair amount per stream, as someone with friends in the music industry who are really struggling due to the whole streaming thing not paying a living i'd hate to see that happen to football. Charge what it's worth. People are getting too used to paying nothing for online content.

"none of the artists get paid a fair amount" I imagine Ricky Gervais gets a reasonable whack for his stuff on Netflix, otherwise he'd sell it to another provider.

My takeaway of choice would be The Dutchie in South Croydon - jerk chicken (or lamb) to die for. Living in London we very rarely have a pizza for takeaway when there are so many other better options, but even then 100 Rabbits, a local restaurant, would be my choice for a pizza. For a chain, Mamma Dough is pretty decent. Even for pizza, Dominoes would be well down the pecking order.

I'm an emotional eater there I said it. So it depends on the mood. I just feel you can get fairly decent supermarket pizzas that take 22 minutes to cook, 10 of which is just heating the oven so it's not a long process and it is a fraction of the cost. If pushed, it's Indian all day long. Love Indian food

Never been to The Dutchie, might have to try it before I move out of the smoke. 100 Rabbits in CP brings back some memories, I met my now wife's best friend and her partner for the first time in there some 5 years ago. I'm a Pizza Pilgrims kind of guy on the rare occasion I'll have it, which is normally on a Friday as my office is right near one. Or Basilico in Clapham, that's the best pizza I've had in London hands down. Certainly going to miss the takeaway options when I move. Domino's is sh1t.
