Lack of intellect and panic I suspect. That whole family knows they're in a world of trouble as soon as they're out of the WH. They're getting desperate but as they're such trashy people they can't behave in any other way. You can't divide and conquer when you turn two thirds of the people against you.
The dumb thing is that Covid could have been a massive election year gift for Trump. All he had to do was listen to the science, look Presidential, wear a mask back in March, not call it a hoax, get out of the way of the experts and not shrug about nearly 200,000 dead Americans.
His fragile ego has been the undoing of him and (tax break for billionaires aside) has prevented him from achieving anything in his time in office. | |

New York state AG is working on several investigations in the background. Biden has already said he wouldn't get in the way of any criminal proceedings. The guy has spent his entire life in a murky financial swamp without any of the stuff he's been involved with over the last six years.
Financial crimes will be easiest to prove so I imagine they'll just Al Capone him and his family. Ultimately even if he's convicted of nothing he's going to spend years in and out of court with every financial detail of his life exposed for all to see.

I do laugh when they say "THIS IS BIDEN'S AMERICA" despite the fact Biden's America with Obama was fairly stable* for 8 years and everything going on is LITERALLY happening under Trump.

The Trump family know the gig is up when he's out the WH for sure.
It's funny that they'd probably still be getting away with it but the Don decided to put himself in one of the biggest positions in the world for scrutiny and investigation. Good criminals do all they can to not be seen, but I believe Trump's ego and Dunning Kruger Effect made him believe a corrupt man who has never done a hard day's work in his life, let alone an honest one, could run an entire nation whilst managing fragile geo political issues and not have his past exposed. Racism is such a level of human ignorance that people will be ignorant in supporting those who push their agenda.
It's why the right wing has flourished the last decade whilst the left has remained divided. One side is having a battle of ethics with each other whilst the other side had none to battle it out over begin with. [Post edited 27 Aug 2020 15:42]
