Leicester City have had some mad deals over the last few years...

Harry Maguire: £12m ➡️ £80m
Ben Chilwell: £0 ➡️ £50m
Ngolo Kante: £6m ➡️ £32m
Riyad Mahrez: £400k ➡️ £61m
Danny Drinkwater: £850k ➡️ £35m

Total cost: £19.25m ➡️ Total Sold for: £258m

Incredible business 👏 🤯

Have to spend money to make money - see also Peterborough.

Our few successes in the transfer market generally come when the purse strings are loosened slightly, all the more frustrating that we pissed it up the wall on League One duds in their mid-to late 20s with Hurst, rather than supplementing a good squad with Webster and KVY type additions.

Not all great deals though - they spent £28m on Slimani, £16m on Musa and £13m on Mendy, plus £12.5m on a keeper who still hasn't made a league appearance for them since 2018.

You’d have to be a phenomenal keeper to displace Kasper Schmeichel. I dint think ££18 million on a back up keeper is a lot for a team who were recently Premier League champions and have aspirations in being regularly in the top six

It is when you consider the likes of Liverpool (Adrian), Chelsea (Caballero), Manchester United (Romero), Spurs (Hart), Wolves (Ruddy) and Everton (Lossl) signed their back up keepers on free transfers.

Fair point, but doesn't that show you have to be willing to risk the odd dud to get the gems?

Depends what your aspirations are i suppose and what you replace them with. You coukd look at ours in isolation:

Mings 10k - £8 million
Moore 50k - £1 Million
Webster £1 Million - £3.5-5mil
Garner £250k - £1.5 Mil
Waghorn £500k - £5-7.5 mil

Spent: £1.81 Mil
Sold for: 19-23 Mil (before sell.on fees recieved).

% Profit is similar if looking at it from.the outside. But we all know the business wasnt good for the club.

So when you net it off, Leicester are only £169m in credit. They'll be going the way of Bury before we know it...

But that's OK if you can keep selling your best players and replacement with the same quality if not there is only one road and that's downwards.

I still don't get why a club like Leicester finishing regularly in the Prem top ten should need to sell players like Chilwell especially if they have any real ambitions. If I was a fan of Leicester I would be moaning the owner lacks ambition

Very good point, won the premier league, knocking on Champions League door. You assume Chilwell’s head turned and they cashed in without him running down his contract.

They had Chelsea’s pants down for Chilwell too. He’s good but £50m good? Nah.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.
