Any old Britpop fans out there? on 22:08 - Aug 31 by DebsyAngel
That looks decent. Loved Bis, Powder and the Voodoo Queens!
Last time I saw Powder was at Ipswich Corn Exchange and Pearl bought me a drink in the Swan beforehand. She looked stunning. Was bubbly and fun so I guess way before her heroin habit formed. The other support band that night was The Nubiles (post-5:30) who were brilliant and the headline act I genuinely can’t remember. Maybe Supergrass. Or possibly Elastica. Or Sleeper. Fck knows.

Just looked and this is the top 3:
1. The Boo Radleys - Wake Up Boo!
2. Suede - Trash
3 The Seahorses - Love Is The Law.
I HATE the Boo Radleys! Great to see Shampoo and the mighty Elastica in there. Who creates these lists? METALLICA and FOO FIGHTERS, as great as they both are, are NOT BRIT POP! They are not even British!!
That is just bizarre, not only are neither band british, but Enter Sandman was released in 1991 and Times Like These in 2002 - and as far as I'm concerned Britpop was a mid-late 90s movement.
You could make a poor case that the former could be in a grunge Top 50 - although I wouldn't have classed Metallica as Grunge, but at least it was released during the same period; and the latter could be in a 'nu metal' top 50 - although again I wouldn't really class Foo Fighters as Nu Metal.
Completely undermines the whole premise of the list - even before debating the merits of a Top 50 based on sales - which was inevitably going to be dominated by Oasis, Verve and Blur.
God, I hated Britpop at the time - but mainly because it was distilling the Madchester scene (which had dominated my sixth form and uni days) into an endless stream of derivative and bland radio friendly rubbish. I still remember watching Oasis play well down the order at Glastonbury 94 and telling everyone afterwards that they were had sounded like a Beatles cover band and we'd never hear from them again - six weeks later Live Forever was released and all over the radio.

Anyone who hates the Boo Radleys hasn't heard 'Giant Steps'.
I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

That list was wrong, eff knows what that Radio 2 site's tracklist was about but that was not correct! But agree with your points!

Maybe I need to give it a listen, I just could not bear Wake Up Boo!
Wake Up Boo is actually quite different to most of their other stuff, much more poppy. I wasn't exactly a fan but they made a few banging tracks. Don't let Wake Up Boo put you off.
