I think if he did at any point it would have been through branding and advertising of the ME brand. That seems to have passed though, especially in this economic climate. He has ITFC assets for sure but he doesn’t make any directly from ITFC as the annual P&L report shows. If he’s not here because he loves football or ITFC (let’s not pretend he does), and he’s not making money, nor is it a vanity project (not his style), why is he here? Some might argue he needs to keep going in order to recoup any loss - bad business sense for someone so shrewd. He must have invested £50 - £60m plus now so why not get out from under even if there were no real buyer offering a fair valuation? At least it’d save him an additional £6m each year - unless there’s another side to this picture we’re not seeing, which has always been my point. |
