Lambert handling of Downes 10:46 - Sep 4 with 4100 viewsTerry_Nutkins

Read what Lambert had to say on Downes and these aren't the actions of a guy who doesn't care about his squad and doesn't communicate with them (as has been thrown at him). I also found it interesting listening to Teddy Bishop on all the work going in on new system and way of playing in training and him talking enthusiastically in training.

It's all very different to what is being levelled at Lambert in the forum to be perfectly honest. I dare say there are disgruntled voices in every squad in the country. Even in out local Sat and Sunday teams there are always the few moaning about game time etc.

I really do wonder if there is an overplay on the mood internally to be honest.

It was a superb comeback. I was chuffed with it. 😂

It was barely mediocre, but you seem content with Lambert as a manager which shows where your standards are at.

Herbie, I lke you. You seem a good egg and I generally agree with most of what you say on here.

But simply down voting my question to you rather than answering it is a bad look old boy.

A number of posters on here who are known to have connections at the club have said that his relationship with the players is non-existent. I think we also see bits of that in things like him getting his assistant to tell Dobra, El Miz et al that they wouldn't be taking part in the first team squad photos on the morning of the photo shoot. Then there's the times he's thrown individuals or groups of players under the bus in his pressers in order to deflect criticism from himself. The dig at Downes yesterday even saying "If it was me, I'd have played". None of this suggests capable man management. I'd be curious to know what evidence there is to suggest that he's a capable man manager, because I can't see any.

I'm not saying he is, but this is far more nuanced that you originally gave it credit for. Equally there are other times when the players have appeared to enjoy working with PL and there are some positive noises coming out of the camp re. training etc.

Lots of managers throw players under the bus from time to time, even as high up as Mourinho or Guardiola. Sometimes it's used as a motivational tactic, but clearly more often than not it's to deflect attention.

If PL is going down the 'tough love' route this season that's his call. Time will tell whether he gets a response.

Frankly after last season's performances on the pitch (ignoring PL's own shortcomings for a moment) I can't say I blame him.

I'll make whatever statements I like, mate.

Very much in the Donald Trump approach to statements.

I think you give him too much credit thinking there's a deliberate approach going on. When players are wheeled out for the cameras of course they are going to say positive things, it's part of the job. They wouldn't publicly pan Lambert and even if they did it would never air. These interviews are shot by the club. All the noises and other things I'm seeing point to a manager that has pretty much no credit in the bank amongst his players.
