Anyone else get the feeling Downes has thrown his toys out of the pram? on 18:31 - Sep 15 by jayessess | Not even Lambert and Taylor have accused Downes of refusing to play, have they? It was Lambert who said he'd given Downes time to clear his head. It's Lambert and Taylor who've said "they don't know if he wants to play". Neither statement claimed they'd asked Downes to play and he'd refused. |
I was referring to handing in an official transfer request. If you want to leave, have a quiet word; making it public just turns the whole ordeal into a public shambles for all concerned. The intent from the agent is very obvious ie: drive up cost and line their pockets. The reality is it’s now prevented Downes from playing, Palace’s bids are under scrutiny and the air of distaste for all concerned is tangible - not that agents seem to care. No-one’s winning at the moment.

You know yourself if you go to buy a car you don’t act that interested in it, put in a low offer and see what happens. Above the water you are all calm, but below the water you’re paddling like anything!' [Post edited 16 Sep 2020 20:45]

Given Downes played tonight, it's all a bit irrelevant now. Although from your Stoke article it appears the players deserved to be bombed out of the squad.
