US Open Golf 14:54 - Sep 15 with 7883 views | J2BLUE | Who do you fancy to win it? Paddy Power paying 10 places. At the last major (I think) like an absolute idiot I backed Rose EW on day one. Seven places instead of the pre-tournament 10. He came top 10 but not top 7

US Open Golf on 21:56 - Sep 16 by J2BLUE | Good stuff, good luck. Just found a great offer from Paddy Power. £10 fantasy competition where you get your entry fee back if Dustion Johnson makes the cut. Had two goes (one using someone else's account) so that will give me a nice bit of interest keeping an eye on 12 golfers (13 until Johnson hopefully makes the cut). Filling up fast and only 4000 places left if anyone is interested: https://promos.paddypower.com/promotion?promoCode=PGAMBSUSOPEN2020 |
Good to see Bet365 agree with my 280 or bigger winning score bet at 6/5. They’ve now got it 282 or more as the winning score at the same price. Very confident tbh.

Good luck all. | |

US Open Golf on 09:38 - Sep 17 with 3298 views | JakeITFC | The way Dustin Johnson is playing he could walk it right now - straight and long off the tee and so he'll have shorter irons in than most to these treacherous greens. New baby bounce so got to include Rory, but I also think that Fitzpatrick, Hatton and Patrick Reed have a good chance of placing with the terms available. I'm currently quarantining so am hoping to watch every shot!

I love the majors and have been reading up on this course the last two weeks. I’ve genuinely come to the conclusion that if anyone shoots +4 for the week, they’ll win or go very very close. One of the pros played there the other day for the back 9 and shot 8 over par. As a professional. Crazy. The rough is 9 Inches and thick. There’s no fans to help find the ball (spotters will need to do a good job). The greens are as tough as I’ve seen in recent years. As you say, it genuinely looks unplayable. If the wind picks up on any day this week, it’ll be a mission to shoot anything low 70s at all.

Luck of the draw will play into it as well - happened at Carnoustie a few years back where there was awful weather for a few hours and anyone on the course at that point was just out of contention because dropped 5-6 shots. Even with all that, I still wouldn't bet against one pro blitzing it and winning by a street

I think you’ve hit the nail on the head with the weather. Any single spell of the wind up and it’s game over for a chunk of the field. The forecast is quite unclear which has prevented me from anything more than a point on Morikawa. I had been tempted into an each way 2.5 point stake on him but as you rightfully mention, he could be beaten by the weather. I really think we’re looking for someone who is solid from tee to fairway and fairway to green. They really don’t need to be spectacular until the putting. At that point, with putter in hand, they’ll need to be very good. Morikawa is the best priced of the big guns I think. Fitzpatrick is my other I’m relatively hopeful will go very well. Both are solid enough in getting to the green with plenty of Fairways In Regulation and Greens In Regulation to contend. Someone like Bryson Dechambeau is I’ll absolutely hate this course. Only 57% of his long drives find the fairway and that will kill him this week. As a side note, I’d love to play there just once. Would be incredible seeing just how hard a hard golf course is. Normal courses are tough for all of us that are amateurs but imagine playing a course like that. Would be some experience.

My manager at my old job was a former pro, didn't make it t tour - think closest he got was one shot away from qualifying for the Open. He ended up as a club pro, but was a real hot prospect at one point - won national titles for Suffolk, same age as Ian Poulter and was streets ahead of him apparently Used to talk about this with him, and specifically Augusta, he had played there and said that your average 18 handicap golfer would struggle to shoot below 150 on there, when it is set up for Masters, as they simply wouldn't be able to land the ball on any green with a normal shot - maybe a well struck pitching wedge or sand wedge would do the trick but they'd have to manage their game to allow them a full one in to have any chance. And then they'd have to try and putt.

Wow that is just crazy! I’d honestly love to do it just to be able to appreciate the brilliance of elite golf. We know how tough it is normally but to see players scoring birdies and the like on the greens like the one in that video I posted, it would just blow my mind. Would honestly go there expecting 170

I played at Hanbury Manor a few weeks back, a couple of days before they had the English Open European Tour event there (which Andy Sullivan won at something like -27). The greens I play on every week at Woodbridge are really good/fast for a local course but the ones setup for the pros there were like an absolute ice rink. Pretty much a different game to the one us amateurs play.

What was more difficult - landing approach shots onto the green, or putting?

Putting there - it isn't a massively long course so it wasn't a case of hitting long irons in to most holes. Really suffered if you weren't the right side of the hole for the putt though, the downhill ones were so fast.

Cheers. Not sure about the spieth one personally as he’s very up and down. He could literally do anything. Inconsistency is his consistency. The 11/8 seems like good value but when I think that I have Evens or worse at a similar price, to then back the bet with one less shot in hand plus the cut line being around 8 (would expect that’s about right tbf), I’m less inclined to back it. If I had t already took the price on my bet, I’d probably say this looks a decent 11/8 shot still.
