As I posted yesterday.

Friend of mine (Chelmsford) was told his nearest option was Leicester for testing.

I don’t get this. What if you live in Ipswich and need a test, can you get tested in Ipswich? How can major towns and cities not be set up for testing. We’re SIX months into this.

There are test centres everywhere, one in Ipswich is at Copdock, but they don't have capacity to test - even though they are dead if you go to them

Obviously not getting testing kits out to them

No, it's scandalous but - as with Trump over there - it's very easy just to become inured to the sh1tness of this government. They would rather fight culture wars because they aren't very good at anything else, I'm not even sure they're as good at them as they think they are.

Is it that the govt doesn’t have enough testing kits or a failure of logistics to get them to the testing centers? Either way seems like a failure of leadership

I think there may also an issue with lab capacity.

They only have a certain amount of time to process the tests when received before they become invalid.

Inept on just about every single level.

Knowing that schools were going back and pushing for people to return to their normal place of work...yet hadn't got their act together regarding testing and tests....tells you all you need to know.

Couple that with the continuing loosening of restrictions...what could possibly go wrong?

In fact, that is about the only honest response there has been.

There was an official apology from a lady who looked after the lab testing saying that there was a capacity issue (i.e. they were at capacity), all despite Pritti Patel saying they weren't.

In Wales they have the capacity at the test centres (they're sitting there largely empty with staff twiddling their thumbs). The issue is that the labs can't process enough tests so the UK Government limit access to test centres to about 1/7th of the capacity.

People have been reporting it's not possible to currently get a test in any of the Welsh hotspots (and we're still fairly low in numbers of cases). There's no way we're even close to be able to deal with a autumn/winter wave without locking down again.

Not sure if that's the same thing playing out in England, but suspect it is.

Yep, they've had 6 months to get their "world beating" system in place.

Johnson said today we have one of the best testing regimes in Europe.

We got an email from our MP suggesting the vast majority of people are getting tests as they request them.

Because the government are incompetent, corrupt sociopaths with no interest beyond in anyone's wellbeing other than themselves and their mates?

We have much less lab capacity in this country thanks to the government policy of 'privatise the sh1t out of everything'.

In the case go NHS lab facilities, many smaller facilities at smaller hospitals have had lab capacity reduced in favour of larger, 'central' labs, meaning many tests cannot be done on site and that more specialised testing takes longer and is ultimately more costly as it potentially delays treatment and leads to patients becoming sicker whilst they wait.

Can’t stand the buffoon but according to the BBC this morning we are still conducting more tests per capita than France or Germany. Doesn’t say how we compare to other European nations though

It's fecking irrelevant how we stack up against other countries though.

If we don't have enough tests to test the number of people 'we' need to - what difference does it make if we are performing more tests than other?

Because getting one over on Johnny Foreigner is far higher on the list of priorities for both them and their cultists?

I can't believe you'd imply that this would be more important to our current 'people loving' Tory government.
