We're stopping Hello Fresh for a week to try Riverford, partly just to try something different, partly because it's an actual farm, and mostly because the missus read an article about them being the best.
But has anyone in TWTD Land tried any of the others? We've liked Hello Fresh and the prices are pretty good, but there's not a huge selection for veggie (which is what we've been ordering). |  |

Hello fresh is good, but I agree the vege options are limited and they seem to do the same thing each week.
Gousto is decent, lots of options but I think the food from Hello Fresh edges it.
Simply Cook is decent, they give you the sauces etc but you buy the ingredients, it's a little cheaper but I prefer the others rather than the hassle of buying it yourself. |  |

We did Gousto for a while. It was pretty expensive for what you got really.
MrsN liked it though, she’s not much of a cook. I found it took the flair of cooking away. Had some tasty recipes that I do use though. |  |

I've never tried any of these recipe box services but out of interest do you ever order them and then when it comes to the day not fancy the dish you've pre-ordered a week before?

Lack of selection for vegetarian stuff combined with my partner being celiac means we can't really use HelloFresh.
We have done local meat / veg boxes though and I tend to prefer that as I can make up my own meals. Riverford looks good. |  |

Yes, I understand, just what if you don't fancy it that day? It takes away a bit of the freedom of cooking doesn't it which is part of the joy of cooking. That and inventing and implementing your own creations.
I think perhaps it's just me.
Both services look very good. I think it's especially good as it gets people cooking their meals from scratch and hopefully enjoying the process.

No, because we order 5 (Mon-Fri) then choose on the day which one of those 5 we're in the mood for that day (they all come on the Monday). | |

Well, there is that, but I haven't found that to be honest in my time using it, and to be fair, I actually like having dinner sorted in the evening rather than scratching around thinking about what we're going to have.
We only do it Mon-Fri so weekends are there for us to freestyle! | |

We have 5 a week and there's usually only 6 or 7 options for veggie, so not much room to swap things out!
The missus doesn't like feta as well, and they use a fair bit of that.
It's manageable but I would like more options. | |

We've used Gusto for a few months. 3 meals a week. Overall very good but pasta portions are absolutely pathetic and you do have to bulk out the odd meal. This could just be me though as I do lots of excercise and crave volume. |  |

"Inventing and implementing your own creations" usually ends up with what can best be described as a "unique taste" in my experience!
With these you get the exact ingredients and step by step how to put it together to make a delicious meal. Many of them I'd have happily paid for in a restaurant. Can't really go wrong unless you miss-read something or forget to take something out of the oven! | |
