US election megathread 03:24 - Sep 23 with 137899 views | SpruceMoose | Seeing as we are approaching the presidential debates, and with the actual election being only 42 days away, maybe we could keep this as a US election megathread for those on here who are interested? One location for all the discussion would prevent multiple threads clogging up the board for those who don't care to get involved? Personally, the reality of having to experience this election in the near future is stressful AF so if anyone else wants to get stressed together... Jump on board. Now, insert all the usual caveats about polling here but...it's looking positive that we will be rid of Trump come 2021, much to the disappointment of a couple of posters on here. 538 are well respected in the field of poll analysis so what they announce should be taken seriously. Of course their analysis doesn't take account of any election fraud, Russian interference, voter suppression etc. But it's positive news none the less. Once Trump is gone, we can work on Johnson. Decent people of the world... Unite! https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2020-election-forecast/ [Post edited 23 Sep 2020 3:32]

US election megathread on 18:01 - Oct 20 by lowhouseblue | one of my real hopes if biden wins (no chicken counting), and as the whole of the trump regime unravels, is that there is a transparent investigation into all the fakery and nonsense - with all of the us agencies unleashed to show what they know. |
There is going to need to be a massive rebuild at many agencies. It's going to take forever. Capable people have been fired and replaced by inept cronies, so many positions sit unfilled. There really does need to be a top to bottom investigation on who knew what and when and what they did in response. Anyone involved in the muck needs to be dealt with as set out by law. It's a right old mess. FFS the US doesn't even have an ambassador to Canada, the EU, Japan, or Pakistan right now.

This is the one rime that justice needs to be seen to be done, as well as done. And the investigation should also take in Johnson, Farage, Banks and what monies they accepted from Russian sources, and for what in return Much as with Maxwell and Epstein, And no one, be they royal or whatever political colour should be immune - nor should there be any cover up, however much damage is caused. Whether this demonstrates to the hard of thinking how much they have been conned by these various shysters I don't know. but this must be thorough. However long it takes.

US election megathread on 15:12 - Oct 19 by giant_stow | ...which makes me wonder: which is worst? Voting for Trump or for Brexit? Not sure: possibly Trump, but happy to be corrected by wise words! |
I suggest that voting for Brexit is worse for the reason that it is irreversible. The disaster that is Trump will, hopefully, start to melt into history within weeks and US will be in a position to start repairing the considerable damage. We have yet to see how disastrous Brexit will be for our country and will continue to suffer its fallout for generations. Those who hold onto the hope that we will see the error of our ways and return to the EU in a decade or two are in dreamland.

Sold atomic secrets to the Russians, single handedly tore down the Mexican wall before springing Hilary Clinton from prison, while smuggling covid19 into the US via a plane load of ISIS members or in the real (non Trump) world "In a misleading claim amplified by surrogates like his son Donald Trump Jr. and his lawyer Rudolph W. Giuliani, the president has said the younger Mr. Biden “walked out of China” with $1.5 billion after accompanying his father on an official trip in 2013. Numerous news articles and fact-checking sites have explained that the huge figure was actually a fund-raising goal set by an investment firm in which Hunter Biden obtained a 10 percent stake after his father left office. The firm did receive financial backing from a large state-controlled bank, but it is not clear the fund-raising target was ever met, and there is no evidence Hunter Biden received a large personal payout. So...it sounds like they are 1-0 down in the fourth minute of injury time and completely out of ideas so they've lashed it at the defender's hand from one foot away and are now desperately screaming for a penalty while the ref shakes his head?

Thankfully no one could lay such allegations at the door of the Orange faced crook - though he does have an uncanny knack of accusing others of what he has known to have done himself "Additionally, the Donald J. Trump Foundation, which has come under previous scrutiny for self-dealing and advancing the interests of its namesake rather than those of charity, apparently used the Eric Trump Foundation to funnel $100,000 in donations into revenue for the Trump Organization." https://www.forbes.com/sites/danalexander/2017/06/06/how-donald-trump-shifted-ki basically, misappropriating* charity funds *or stealing, as it is usually known

They lashed it at his hand, missed entirely, ball goes flying into the stand and still they claim a penalty.

Quite. But nobody is seriously saying that this is a "To Catch a Predator" style bust. That's not really the point at all. The point is to see how easily a top government advisor with direct communication lines to the President gets put in a massively compromising situation with a foreign national, which on this occasion was for Borat style shïts and giggles but could on another occasion have much more dire consequences. It really just underlines the fact that we have grotesque idiots running the show and putting us all in danger. [Post edited 21 Oct 2020 19:34]
