Seeing as we are approaching the presidential debates, and with the actual election being only 42 days away, maybe we could keep this as a US election megathread for those on here who are interested? One location for all the discussion would prevent multiple threads clogging up the board for those who don't care to get involved?
Personally, the reality of having to experience this election in the near future is stressful AF so if anyone else wants to get stressed together... Jump on board.
Now, insert all the usual caveats about polling here but...it's looking positive that we will be rid of Trump come 2021, much to the disappointment of a couple of posters on here. 538 are well respected in the field of poll analysis so what they announce should be taken seriously.
Of course their analysis doesn't take account of any election fraud, Russian interference, voter suppression etc. But it's positive news none the less. Once Trump is gone, we can work on Johnson. Decent people of the world... Unite!

Quite. But nobody is seriously saying that this is a "To Catch a Predator" style bust. That's not really the point at all.
The point is to see how easily a top government advisor with direct communication lines to the President gets put in a massively compromising situation with a foreign national, which on this occasion was for Borat style shïts and giggles but could on another occasion have much more dire consequences.
It really just underlines the fact that we have grotesque idiots running the show and putting us all in danger.

Yeah I'm watching now. He wasn't perfect. Aspects of his legacy are open to serious criticism. But by God I miss having a President like this.
I would have loved to have seen where the States would be now of the GOP hadn't been in control of the senate and sabotaged what he was trying to achieve every single day for eight years.
I just miss having a thoughtful, intelligent, dignified, serious but human person in charge. I don't expect to always agree with them, but I do expect to be able to trust them.

I've just finished watching the C4 series on Trump, the last episode featured Obama becoming President and the Trump doing what he usually does and questioning Obama's nationality: "Is he an American? Was he actually born here? I don't know - you tell me!" - that kind of thing.
Eventually, I think it was the state of Hawaii that released Obamas birth certificate, just to shut people like Trump up. Not long afterwards, the was some kind of awards presentation/celebration at the WH, packed with hundreds of people, including Donald. Obama ripped him a new one, just took the p1ss out of him whilst he sat in the audience with a fixed smile on his face...revenge is sweet.
However, one of Trumps aides at the time then went on to say that that was the moment Trump decided to run in 2016 - he probably would have anyway, but clearly his ego forced his hand.
