Ex Town Players without clubs 08:00 - Sep 23 with 4878 viewsBlueandTruesince82

Having seen Tom Adeyemi mentioned in the form, a players whos appearances in a town shirt were so fleeting I'd forgotten about him I thought I'd see what he was up to post Town. He hasn't had a club since leaving us and I wondered how many other player's that came though over the last 5 years or so are now without a club (not counting those who retired)

I have Adeyemi and Cameron Stewart (who had one season with Lincoln after a fear a out having left Us) both signed to much enthusiasm by Mick.

Josh Yorwerth (not sure he really counts given this is due to being sacked in light of his ban).

I'm v curious as to how many hailed signings )esp from Micks era where we took a lot of punts) have fallen through the cracks of the game.

So far as I know Jordan Spence doesnt have a club.

I believe he spent a bit of time in Hollywood with his Mrs, then played a handful of games in The Netherlands but his contract ended at the end of 2019-20 so he is probably back in movieland now.

Luke Hyam still doesn't have a club which is rather a suprise

Think he primarily uses twitter these days to convince Bristol City to re-sign him....

In the words of Mick.... that went well.

From last season, afaik WIll Keane and Danny Rowe are still without a club. From the season before, you can add Simon Dawkins and James Collins to Spence and Adyemi as not having played professionally since, albeit Collins did retire.

Such a shame/bizarre time here, played football at every other club he had been at, and he gets the ITFC injury curse that causes him to retire.

Such a shame for the lad.

Adeyemi took the money and rode off into the sunset of retirement.

I suspect the salary cap and covid will ensure a long llist of unemployed players from every club in the league.... although it might do wonders for the amateur game

I bet he was delighted to have to retire through injury at the age of 27. Have a word with yourself, Lord Edge of Edgefield.

Not greatly surprised by any of those mentioned on this thread given the amount of dross we've had at the club. It's also more likely now that younger players will drift out of the game earlier, given the sort of money a lot of average footballers have made over the past 10+ years. Certainly less need for the Hyam's and Spence's of the world to earn £350 a week playing for Needham when they've been on £150k+ per annum for a number of years, unlike back in the day. Unless they've not been sensible with their money of course.

Seems like someone has had some fun with Bowditch's Wiki page:

Dean Bowditch
English footballer (born 1986)

Dean Peter Bowditch (born 15 June 1986) is an English former professional footballer who has been self isolating in the lockdown. He has really perfected the art of social distancing during the lockdown. Stowmarket FC have plenty of frozen burgers waiting to be defrosted and sold at a safe social distance.

Meanwhile Keane's brother is currently sitting top of the Premier League. I wonder when they were kids which one was the better player. While professional football is going very much to plan for Michael, Will's career appears to have hit the buffers.

I think the game will awash with players out of contract and Clubs not able to sign players due to financial constraints and the effects of CoVid on the game.
It’s a big open door for U21’s in the have now , and maybe a wake up call to many over paid senior pros .

I wonder if we're considering resigning Keane on a cheap one year deal. Would say he's a better finisher than our other strikers and has a nice touch which gives him time to play others in - working well in our new system. Must be a possibility after watching Norwood and Hawkins.

Not sure how many central strikers we need if we are only playing one up top. A lot will depend on whether Jackson stays, how long Drinan is out for and whether Dawkins is seen as an impact player off the bench or a more regular starter. Sears could also play through the middle.

I like the idea of Jackson's pace to get behind defences with the chances we are now creating so it would be good to keep him and get him fit.

I am not convinced Norwood is good enough, as either a lone forward or as a finisher at this level and would not be surprised if he goes out on loan/leaves.
