Not being able to go to football.... 09:49 - Sep 23 with 2116 views | itfcjoe | ....it now feels as though this isn't going to happen for months and months, after last weeks trials in the EFL I was hoping to get to the game this weekend. I really need to get a new way of watching on iFollow, just sitting on my own in the home office just doesn't cut it for me as a social being. Thinking function room with decent wi-fi connection, socially distanced tables of 6 or something. But ultimately I can't just keep sitting watching on my own as football is about socialising for me and am really missing that now

Not being able to go to football.... on 09:55 - Sep 23 with 2065 views | BrixtonBlue | Yeah I know what you mean. My mate and I, who sit next to each other at PR, text each other about incidents during the games, but it's not the same. I miss the dissecting of the game afterwards with the rest of the gang in the pub, too.

Not being able to go to football.... on 10:16 - Sep 23 with 2002 views | TJS | I think a lot of people renewed their season tickets in the hope of going back to PR in the autumn. I am starting to get uncomfortable with paying £300+ plus for nothing more than access to 23 games on a fairly dull streaming service. If it is no crowds until March the clubs really need to get together and allow free access to ALL away games for season ticket holders as well. [Post edited 23 Sep 2020 10:17]

I agree with you that they need to work out free access to away games for ST holders as well. It's the only way you'll get any value out of having a ST this season. Regarding the OP, me and my dad and brother Skyped each other a few times when footy first returned and that helped a bit. That was before we could really meet up to watch the game. I think having even a couple of people to watch the game with does change the experience for sure.

Not being able to go to football.... on 10:22 - Sep 23 with 1964 views | SomethingBlue | The sport is in for a battle for its future as we know it, I think. Not just financially; a year off will mean many people get out of the habit and a lot of youngsters get even further preoccupied with esports & similar.

Agree re the away matches for season ticket holders. That way there will still be value in having a season ticket. Without it I dare say many will cancel which could be disastrous financially.

Not being able to go to football.... on 10:32 - Sep 23 with 1912 views | KTBlue | my local (London) streams games from iFollow for the Wimbledon games and there are about 20 or so Wimbledon fans watching it. Must be ones in Ipswich that are doing it. i did hear that pubs are able to show the boxing, but not able to advertise that they are showing it. Imagine its different for iFollow license-wise though. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Yep, that's it for me - feel like I need to watch it with 3 or 4 mates, then walk to a pub to meet another couple to juct have a chat about it all. I watch a lot of football on my own or with one or two others with the youth stuff, but usually end up chatting to people I see there - but for the first team I don't want to get into that habit as a solo watcher

That's a brilliant read and so true. "What relevance is it to me if we start next season at Liverpool or Rochdale, if I’m not there? There’s no excitement, no engagement."

iFollow doesn't allow it, but like you say if not advertised then wouldn't be picked up upon I'd be happy just to have a room somewhere where everyone has to be a ST holder so has in effect paid for it. Not really sure of logistics as yet - but somewhere must be willing to do so

Not being able to go to football.... on 10:59 - Sep 23 with 1810 views | Steve_M | Yes, the odd game watching at home on my own is one thing but there will need to be something more over the season. I've enjoyed the two league matches more than I thought I would but watching football is about more than just the match.

Couldn't you combine it with a live Blue Monday?

Surely there could only be six of you according to the guidelines? Or is it groups of six sitting separately? I'm not sure I understand any more...

Yep, tables of 6 would be fine - table service and no mingling though

I'm sure there's no way it'll be enforced, but if something gets lined up don't spread that it's going on too far and wide as its actually against the terms of the service.

A marvellous piece. He's right - it's sterile once the experience and emotions is stripped from it.
