Savvy Computer professionals (like me) soon came up with a workaround. All those guys have been thrown on the out-of-work scrap heap 'cos they're over 50 and don't know nuffin about 'puters. It's a personal grudge thing I have.

Could even get away with SQLite.

It's very poor indeed. As you say, it's trivial to do in SQLite and Python if you want to do things quickly, there is really no excuse for having an Excel sheet in that kind of process. It shouldn't even be that though, it should just be done properly, what they are doing really isn't complex. SB

Yeah, the more I think about this, the stupider this implementation is. It's not something that would have even crossed my mind. If anything doing it through via files seems harder. I'm just astounded. I'm sure I could reach this level of "efficiency" if I just made an absolute mess of everything I did. [Post edited 5 Oct 2020 13:21]

It's ok, they've got it cracked This is what it would look like if I was doing it. Although it was reported in the Mail, so could well be wrong.

Then I need the word that describes something an order of magnitude worse. Stick “world class” in front of that word. Then we are getting close. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Hope Starmer asked Johnson tomorrow what operating system they were running excel on. Anyone like to guess. I’ll go for Windows 95
