Qanon, the most interesting thing about it for me is... 12:44 - Oct 13 with 2015 views | monytowbray | ...who is doing it and why? https://www.bbc.com/news/blogs-trending-54065470 The realist in me says it’s a mix of those already down a rabbit hole of fringe conspiracy linking a lot of stuff together with 2020 goings on among the normies, many of which are confused and vulnerable RN. No biggie. But the real question is who is behind the original messages? Both Qanon and the former Pizzagate are heavily tied into the idea that it’s all Democrats up to the evils and claiming the saviour is the Republican bloke who has more evidence of child rape and criminal dealings pinned his name than your average mob boss. Jim Watkins is heavily suggested, is the motivation just a God complex case of sociopathy or is there wider motivations behind it? https://www.insider.com/who-is-q-why-people-think-jim-watkins-qanon-8chan-2020-1 I’ve seen claims it’s a bit of a Psyops misinformation campaign being pushed by those caught up in the Epstein links (which I’m still sure is a massive smoking gun for some very big figure take downs). That’s the best theory I could back at this point but again, without evidence I cannot doubt it seems far fetched. Perhaps I’m just too keen for a James Bond like ending?! Perhaps it’s just a digital evolution of the same technique so it looks more interesting than the reality as it’s all new plays we’ve never had the tech to implement? The whole thing terrifies and fascinates me.

I've watched several videos on Youtube in the past which claim to be 'proof' of things like pizzagate. It's just endless rambling and basically comes down to open your eyes sheeple, it's true because we say so.

Qanon, the most interesting thing about it for me is... on 12:59 - Oct 13 with 1942 views | Darth_Koont | All misinformation is good for someone - whether it’s giving bloggers and extremists the edge when they can’t compete with real information and evidence, protecting the establishment by preventing people connect the real dots or by helping people and nations fight an information war to de-stabilize competitors. It matters less who’s behind it than the need for all of us to each take more responsibility to not spread false information and certainly not act on it. I’ve said it before but I think the younger generations are much more aware of all this and take superficial information and sources much less seriously. And it’s massively dangerous for those in the older generations who’ve already proved even in conventional media that they often can’t read beyond headlines.

Your second paragraph is spot on. and I do think there’s a generational problem. I’ve shared this on here before but my mum a while back on Facebook shared some “Muslims are trying to ban hot cross buns”. Complete nonsense, of course. I called her out on it and she said “well it could have been true”. Social media amplifies ignorance. It’s very dangerous.

He warned me to be careful with a fraud case I was investigating as it was leading to a titled individual, whom he linked with a shadowy group ( can't remember if he mentioned illuminati)... I got a promotion out of department, our team was disbanded always wondered what happened to that file. This matter made me receptive to conspiracies... He also had a theory about Bill and Hillary, but I can't remember the exotics To pull off a conspiracy takes a tremendous amount of power and control, minimum weak links etc. Most things are probably down to weak individuals and / or incompetence rather than an elaborate conspiracy.

I think its your middle para - cults have always existed, but previously they used to be physical - now the same control can be had over people remotely.

It's because it is built into the conspiracy how people will try and tell you it's false, so if you are a true believer it's like someone saying to a religous nut that God isn't real......everything is built around defending that central premise

Honestly think it was a wind up merchant doing it for a laugh on both before stopping, and then others chipping in to keep it going now. It wasn't uncommon, there were others with a similar "I'm in the FBI/CIA/Some other agency" and talking about conspiracy theories. It does appear he has some stake in keep it going, but given he's an absolute nutter this doesn't surprise me. He was quite happy to have child porn hosted on his site.

If these conspiracy idiots really do think that nefarious (love that word) forces are trying to corrupt the world, they need to look at what is actually happening, now in the real world. Every click on the web, every social media post, every card purchase, most message apps, everything picked up by a “listening” device (Nest, voice activated tv etc) is recorded, analysed and sold and then used you to buy more stuff, or more nefariously (had to get that word in again) to buy/influence elections.

Indeed. That’s where I think conspiracy theories are most dangerous. They help obscure the actual conspiracies, collusions and abuses of power that go on. And provide those implicated with the defence that those looking to expose it are conspiracy theorists. Anything that disguises or confuses how the world is and how it works lets a lot of people do exactly what they want.

This is is the weirdest thing of all. People are literally endorsing a conspiracy theory from someone who was happy to host kiddy porn.

The material itself (as is so often the case) is not very original, just repackaged with up-to-date names. Also, it is based upon vague leading questions, allowing the reader to jump to their own conclusions.

Agreed and something that's quite interesting is when someone new emerges on to the scene they have a rapid rise and are the darling of the movement. Then they get a little too big and the established players have to turn on them and accuse them of being disinformation agents. It's all about which nutter and their messiah complex can be on top.

I’d love to know why Bill went to Epstein island so many times. I think it’s important to remember someone being in Epstein’s circle does not mean they were complicit, in fact they may have even been victim of the con as opposed to part of it. Still, it’s amazing how little people close to him are willing to say, but then when those questions get you murked I can see why. The Daily Mail reported in 2002 Diana was researching into what Jimmy Saville was up to as well as gathering sexual abuse victim testimonies from inside Buckingham Palace at the time of her death. With what we know now. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-145777/Dianas-rape-tape-sensation.html The conspiracy is there for all to see, it’s some rich manipulative sickos powerful enough to get away with it and dragging other enablers/enactors up the chain with them, and then the elite covering for each other.
