6 Tory MPs have signed a letter to Andy Burnham 22:11 - Oct 20 with 1503 viewstractordownsouth

...Blaming him for walking away from negotiations, when that wasn't the case. Of course we know why they're doing it, because nothing the Tories mess up is ever the Tories' fault, but not fighting for more money for their constituents can't be a good look for them.

This one has also turned off replies because he's a coward, like the rest of Johnson's parliamentary cult

Tories (especially the current breed) will always fall into line to defend the party, no matter what.

Blame the people, blame Andy Burnham, blame anyone... don't mention the lack of a coherent, logical, balanced approach or the lack of funding for health, education and employment opportunities in all of the "hot spots".
Johnson, Hancock and their brown nosers are a joke.

Like I said, it's a cult. My tweet the other day in response to those Tory MPs blaming Starmer for lockdown policy feels relevant to this scenario as well.

Which begs the question, what's the point of them being in power if it's always someone else's fault?

Sadly the same insiders who deliberately damaged the party under Corbyn may well have done the same under Burnham though, as he was also considered too left-wing. Burnham himself commented that he felt the party machine was against him while he was shadow health secretary.

In all fairness, that whole 'sold an entire hospital to the Efficient Private Sector to run down' thing probably stuck around for them.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

Whatever one's opinion of lockdowns, central government etc, is it a good system whereby any lock-down only happens once the central government has agreed to give a mutually agreed sum of money to the relevant local authority?

A better system would be the Government just giving the right money in the first place - i.e. enough to protect those workers who will be furloughed (both employed and self employed) at the rate of the national lockdown i.e. covering 80% of their wages

How else would you suggest it happens? Surely this is the whole point. Lockdowns aren't free... they have massive effects, particularly on the low paid. As such, they need to be mitigated for. The local authorities will have to pick up the pieces of these lockdowns, in terms of poverty, unemployment, homelessness, mental health crises, so shouldn't the support and plans for these be set up before just cutting off people's income streams?

Indeed. The greatest trick the Labour right ever pulled was convincing people it was the rest of Labour that were the narrow, intolerant cultists.

Lowhouse’s Labour. God help us.

What are you talking about? Burnham was for re-nationalisation.
