Two stories on The BBC front demonstrates all that is wrong about Covid response 23:31 - Oct 20 with 862 viewsMercian

In the struggling North West of England people have huge personal and collective concerns about they economy, health, are not allowed to meet up with friends, see their kids etc.
Meanwhile in the affluent South this is allowed to happen.

How would you say it compares to the masses partying in Liverpool the night before Tier 3?

I don't think Thorpe Park should be allowed to stage events like that at the current time but the tiering is there for a reason. Until we have a full lockdown then there will be differences in regions.

Those differences should be minor though around household mixing and small scale entertaining - not huge theme parks being open or not. It's clearly going to be divisive and going to a theme park probably isn't needed at this time.

Don't think you can generalise from that one incident "in the affluent South".

To me it's more a question of baffling inconsistencies, which our dearly unbeloved bunch of corrupt incompetents masquerading as cabinet members have never bothered to explain or apologise for.

E.g why 2 people from different households couldn't meet in each other's gardens even if the gardens were big enough for a social distance of 5m to be maintained; whilst half a dozen people all from different households could meet up indoors in a pub room 5m x 5m.

Or why it was OK for Dominic Cummings to break the rules & drive hundreds of miles whilst everyone else was under strict lockdown.

In particular, DC going unpunished has been at the root of huge public resentment & is, I think, the main reason for "disobedience" from the Great British Public when they haven't stuck to to the rules. The damage that has done cannot be stated enough imho.

Poll: Why can't/don't we protest like the French do? 🤔

Looks like someone has rumbled the government's secret mock-up of life after Brexit.

"......Paul Mariner......John Wark...... Brian Tablet...errrrrrr Talbot"
Poll: In a hellish scenario, would you rather...

Or, it could be down to the fact, that most (not all) have been trying to abide by the rules of this better down south, hence the lower figures, but why let facts get in the way of trying to play party politics
