Anyone on here take any health supplements? 16:46 - Oct 22 with 5036 viewsghostofescobar

And do they make any difference? And no, beer doesn't count as a supplement. Being a man just the wrong side of 50, I wondered if I should consider anything.

I've sold them, taken pretty much everything and there are a few which are scientifically proven to do what they say. But most are 1-5% improvements for a lot of people.

At the minute I'm back on an everyday multivitamin and cod liver oil supplement as I'm at such a high risk of germs and obviously COVID.

I also take ZMA at the moment to try and get some sleep.

For ayone interested I know the bloke who owns this place and he's a decent guy and I use them now. They usually do some good offers and the stuff is high quality. I'm not an employee or on commission unfortuantely.

I’ve used bodybuilding warehouse a fair bit.

Their flapjacks are pretty good!

It's ok if you get taken short, there's always a lamppost near by to use or the gutter.

I don't encourage that sort of thing, as I recently caught a German Shepherd having a dump on our front lawn

not a fog either

and I agree with the above thoughts on randomly taking supplements when they haven't been medically advised

balanced diet and enough 'varied' exercise whould be enough

If you have a decent diet and are in good general health, vitamin supplements will do f*ck all for you.
All you'll do with a vitamin pill is ultimately piss it out again(assuming the above).

And there seems to be a strong correlation between severity of covid symptoms and how much vitamin D is in your blood.

No proof because they haven't had time to test it but a strong correlation. It's worth doubling up just in case.

As a rule of thumb, the more melanin(and thus, the darker the colour of it) your skin carries, the more difficult it is for you to naturally synthesise vitamin D, because it's largely derived from interactions between sunlight and cholesterol. Melanin's primary function is to protect you from UV.

I can't recall the figure exactly, but someone of Celtic or Caucasian heritage needs significantly less direct sunlight time in order to synthesise an adequate amount of vitamin D than someone of African heritage does.

It's thought that vitamin D plays apart in immune response to Covid-19, so lockdown will potentially have made members of the BAME community who were already vulnerable due to socio-economic factors even more so, because they'll have lacked sufficient exposure to sunshine to mount an adequate amount of vitamin D production on top of the fact that they'll have likely been working in 'essential worker' roles that afford them a higher level of virus exposure to start with.

Omega 3 and tumeric for dermatitis which really helps. Antihistamine each day too. Wash face with distilled water which basically cleared it up. Tap water too harsh unfortunately.

I'm not understanding the turmeric thing if I'm honest.

There was a bloke worked in one of the local stores here who is a health freak, and he was always promoting turmeric as though he had somehow discovered it.

There's an entire continent been using it for hundreds [more?] of years, it's not new.

Are there even studies it does half the things it's claimed to do?

I've consumed loads of the stuff over the years so why am I not super-fit and healthy?

Why have I got gout? Why, why?

Hal Robson kanu took it and then scored a worldie at the world Cup. That was enough convincing for most people

At sea I take a greens supplement.

The food is terrible. Since taking this supplement I haven’t had a cold or flu on board ship. Considering that we have air con on recirc that’s quite a feat.

You don't think you might get not ill on there cos you're in the middle of nowhere on a floating area with a half mile parameter with only 17 other people?

Vitamin D, zinc and multivitamin.

I learnt to take zinc from a young age as it helps you reload quicker in the bedroom. Really does work.

Begs the question, why do you take it?

Dunno, I thought that lot were too tough to get ill.

They don't wear clothes outside in winter or anything.

And they're not soft enough to butter their scones or anything, let alone use cream and jam. I wonder what they drink instead of tea.

Probably just boiled water with salt or something.
