Holy
Chambers Woolfenden Mcguiness Ward
Dozzell
Bishop Huws
Lankester Hawkins Bennetts

Cornell
Wilson
Kenlock
Judge
Jackson
McGavin
Dobra

Presumably Jackson is back then? Presumably McGavin can still play (youth loan?).

I was in favour of easing the CBs in one at a time but too late now. None of us know how good McGuiness is but we do know how poor the other 2 are. Time to stop messing about and go all out

Think Jackson still has to self isolate for the next two games.

Almost agree. Would be nervous of us defensively with two young players at centre back and would play Wilson over McGuinness; that’s not to say I wouldn’t mind seeing them paired together.

I can see Kenlock starting over Ward as I’m not sure if he’s ready for two games in four days. I know you really have a hatred for Edwards but he’s our top scorer and shouldn’t be dropped at this stage; I wouldn’t be surprised to see Sears back over Lankester so we return to the front three who have played the most games together.

Holy - Chambers, Kenlock, Woolfenden, Wilson - Dozzell, Huws, Bishop - Sears, Edwards, Hawkins

Substitutes: Cornell, Ward, McGuinness, McGavin, Dobra, Bennetts, Lankester

Is Jackson fit enough to play once he is out of isolation?

Back to basics.

After the last two games 4-3-3 is not for me.

I do appreciate, in some games, not all games, when in possession we have enjoyed a 25 minute period and looked good playing this way.

Our midfield is too lightweight in terms of physical presence and numbers.

Back to basics for me..... 4-4-2.

We will benefit from having an extra body in the middle and from having two up top.

4-4-2 means one less body in the middle, surely? We’ll have have two centrally rather than three with two wingers. Our midfield is powderpuff as it is without lessening numbers as well.

We don't really have the players for it. Dozzell would drown in a 2 man midfield.

He'll keep the back line the same. Can't simultaneously rant and rave about how well you played and the referee being useless then drop everyone.

Nsiala has made two mistakes (albeit slightly unluckily - Sims was fine keeping to his feet before he reached the penalty area and Johnson instigated the contact) in two games. He was given a chance but still cost us a goal so think it is time for Woolfenden to return.

I would change the keeper too.

I would be surprised if Lankester starts again on Tuesday but he might.

I'm indifferent on the keepers.

Fair point actually I forgot it is Tuesday not Saturday

In that case I would play dobra or sears

This thought had crossed my mind.

The lines between principle centred leadership and achieving results are becoming unclear.

Time for Lambert to have the courage to choose the team he believes to be his best starting Xl.

Completely agree, it is time to give Cornell a go

Also as soon as Jackson is out of quarantine we need to start him. Have to get goals from our strikers and that hasn't happened this year so far

As good as we have (bar Bennetts for Edwards).

Should be enough to beat Gillingham, maybe Crewe.

Will still fall short against top 6 sides I’d have thought.

Would be interesting to see how Woolfenden McGuinness get on, clearly better on the ball, flanked with so much experience could be really good.

I don’t really get the clamour for starting Bennetts at this stage to be honest. Has he managed to retain possession at any point? I’m not writing him off but I’m clearly not seeing in his cameos what some are, and he needs to earn a start. Dobra should have more credit in the bank to be ahead of him as that wildcard IMO.

As for McGuinness, it’s a bit ridiculous and knee jerk to suggest someone who ‘nobody knows how good he is’ should start, when Wilson hasn’t done a lot wrong. I think we’ve got a very good pair of fullbacks and yes to Woolfenden coming in for Nsiala, but Wilson should partner him. I would have confidence in that back 4 for these next 2, home games.

I would be tempted to move Lankester into the middle in place of Nolan, and bring Dobra into the wide right position. They could perhaps switch but I like the idea of a Lankester, Bishop, Dozzell trio.

Bennetts off the bench perhaps for Dobra.

So out: Toto & Nolo
In: Woolfo & Dobro

Cornell for Holy
Edwards for Lankester

Coco the Clown for Lambert.

EDIT - I mean I agree with the rest of the changes you suggest

Lankester, Bishop and Dozzell would be such an easy to play against trio though - far too lightweight.

If we're going to change the defence (and we should) then we should also change the keeper and give them 2-3 games to gel.

Holy's distribution yesterday was poor and his poor clearance almost led to a goal.

Much might depend on whether Ward is able to play 2 games in a week (for 2 weeks running) but we've an opportunity to change things up.

Indeed, agree on that.

I like to think Woolfenden and McGuinness have the making of a really comfortable ball playing pair, and since Wilson and Nsiala seem to be dipping in form now (inevitable against decent opposition), it’s the opportunity to get them in.

Not sure about that because he might already have had his two good games that he has each season.

I would think that he has certainly had one of them and he somehow got voted in MOTM in another one.

I don’t think Wilson had a bad game and I wouldn’t swap both out as neither wolf or McGuinness have any game time recently. Other than that I think your side is right.

Edwards hard done by though. Should be on bench at least.
