Nice one, bumboy.

And please don't complain about my post, you just don't get the context.

Bumboy?

Have I time warped back to the 70's when that was used as an offensive word against homosexuals? Have I missed something and if no does this website allow such things?

*Note if I've totally missed the point ignore me

I reckon Phil would be sensible in deleting this thread now, before it gets out of hand. These debates never end well.

I think you'll find some posters here get an almost free ride with some of the language used, but sometimes that's all they have left. Most unpleasant.

The report is saying that more should have been done and the processes should have been better. Corbyn and others involved at the top of the party (including Jennie Formby, Tom Watson and Ian McNicol) bear overall responsibility of course.

And from a regulatory perspective why the procedures weren’t as good or effective or why the leadership was getting involved is irrelevant. The recommendations are there and I haven’t seen anyone disagree with them.

The key recommendation is an independent and transparent process and there’s the key. The factionalism involved in sabotaging the complaints process is quite ridiculous when you see the evidence in the Labour Leaks document. The EHRC do acknowledge that the complaints were handled better once a few of these Labour right actors were out of the way and when McNicol was replaced by Formby. Still not up to scratch but we’re also looking at a bombardment of complaints many of them frivolous from people who were looking to embarrass Labour and Corbyn.

Again from a regulatory perspective that’s not relevant if the procedures themselves still show shortcomings. So on this charge, Corbyn and others did work towards improving complaints procedures and processing cases but it wasn’t enough and even by getting involved to accelerate cases they were guilty of faulty procedures.

Overall, I think the EHRC report is both fair in its findings and recommendations but it certainly falls far short of the media narrative. And crucially we have to look elsewhere for the actual context (which again to reiterate isn’t a defence for faulty procedures).

I hoped the Forde Inquiry that is looking into what happened at Labour HQ actually brings that up. But having paid off some of those involved and using the EHRC regulatory view, I can see that being entirely swept under the rug.

That’s my biggest disappointment with Starmer. I don’t actually trust him and his “forensics” when it’s never going to applied to him and his allies. I presumed a human rights lawyer was actually better than this and above the game of politics.

Appreciate the detailed response.

As I say, it’s not something that I have been looking on at intently.

I always said Corbyn wasn’t the answer, but he should be the catalyst for change.

People are quite rightly judged by their associates. I think Corbyn has been very naive, and as a politician that has gotten him into a world of mess.

I don’t think laying the blame elsewhere for what happened during his leadership is entirely fair. As leader he should have had better control.

A good leader takes ownership. There were three reports into antisemitism in 2016. A number of the recommendations were still not implemented when the EHRC report was conducted.

Did a lack of action lead to the emboldening of antisemetic attitudes in the Labour Party?

How does this all fit in with the core values of the Labour Party?

Formby does indeed seem to have made some progress. Do you think some progress is better than no progress at all?

With so many incidents recorded, they can’t all be smears and political manoeuvring? There was something intrinsically wrong.

Apologies if any of the above has been mentioned already. It’s taken me ages to type this with a twin on my chest.

No, I’ve disagreed with your and others’ characterisation of racism where guilt is assumed. You’ve used this Trial by accusation throughout to score points and call people racists.

As I say, you’re slimy AF.

no, what i am using is the ehrc report. the report that found that dismissing reports of anti-semitism as fakes and smears was harassment and discrimination under the equalities act. it is what you have been doing for years and continue to do. just to be clear.

And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show

Turned into a classic sh1t slinging match, I bailed pages ago.

I do wonder why so many people venomously against racism seem to follow the herd when the press tells them too though. A real free press would now be saying we do the other parties next and stop pretending this is an issue exclusive to Labour based on p1ss poor dated hot takes on the left wing.

I’ll say it again - Our local MP pushed anti Semitic conspiracy theory in the HoP last week and not a peep. Anyone? The accountability in this country considering we are ruled by an outright corrupt bunch of inept charlatans with views on minorities more in line with the 19th century is an utter joke.

The word was used in 1998 by our current Prime Minister in an article in the New Statesman referring to Peter Mandelson.....

[Edit] - well not Mandelson directly but to the people who Boris opined were Mandelson's supporters - see post from Newcy elsewhere in this thread..

The only free press that highlighted this and keep going even thought they were constantly attacked for doing it even from other newspapers was the Jewish Chronicle. Not sure if you receive a copy of it but they have their special supplement online now

Corbyn actively discriminated against people. Boris and Trump have made some ill advised, poor taste quips. You don’t see how that’s different?

Sorry and I know it's not your precise point but it's not about who's a bigger racist, a racist is a racist and Corbyn is one.

When Luciana Berger was asked yesterday if she believed that Corbyn was anti-Semitic she said yes and I trust her before anything that comes out of Corbyn's mouth

Even the simple point about that mural made it obvious about his thought on Jewish people. To hide behind freedom of speech and then condemn anyone who uses that excuse for other forms of racism was a classic example of a racist.

An excellent article here on the mural topic from the Jewish chronicle in 2018
https://www.thejc.com/comment/opinion/there-is-only-one-word-for-jeremy-corbyn-1

On the other hand John Bercow, who is also Jewish, has known Corbyn for decades, and doesn't have an axe to grind with him unlike Berger, said he's never encountered anything remotely racist with Corbyn.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Anyone who denies all complaints of antisemitism as smears is an antisemite, either by thought or by deed.

Anyone who denies that the prevailing narrative of antisemitism within Labour and specifically against Corbin was exaggerated for factional and political purposes is dishonest and disingenuous.

I know that strikes too close to home for you to accept but I can only deal with the facts.

I'd say lock rather than delete, so that people can refer back to what was said if necessary in due course.

When a thread's deleted entirely, it just seems to provoke new threads rowing about what was actually said in the one that was deleted ...

His Trump fandom makes perfect sense. His response to me asking how he felt about poor Mexican kids floating face down dead in the Rio Grande was to say:

"Maybe the parents should have thought of that eh?".

Sadly Phil deleted the comments, but other posters saw it too.

He's not a nice person, no matter how many 'mates' he hands out.
