What is wrong with people? there is a very dangerous virus out there and people don't like measures that may help prevent the spread. They will be the same ones that when someone close gets it blame the governments. No one yet has an answer and looking unlikely in the near future there will be one. What is the world coming to? Germany seem to have fared a lot better than the rest of the world, they follow the rules is that the answer?
Please people do not copy the Spanish.

People will ignore all reason and evidence if they think they know better.

Just like Brexit.

Sorry, I thought it was free for all of 'examples of people ignoring the evidence'.

Just checked La Vanguardia and El Pais and no rioting reported in either. An online poll in La Vanguardia yesterday showed 87% in agreement with weekend lockdowns.

I haven't seen any reports but chances are it's the same 500 or so Vox supporting right wing nutjobs in Madrid that were ignored here back in May.

Think it is far too late to ask people not to copy the Spanish. They reckon 80% of new cases in Europe can be traced back to a Spanish variant of Covid no doubt brought back to holidaymakers.

They blame the government for relinquishing the gains they made in the first lockdown, which was one of the harshest in Europe. They don't see the point of the lockdown, as they don't have confidence in their government to maintain the gains a second time around. They would rather not lose employment, with its negative affects, when they believe their government is inept.

That's what I'm told anyway.

There have been demonstrations aplenty in Berlin as it goes.

Ultimately we are social animals and if you take away our ability to socialise, there will be tensions. It's easy if you are lucky enough to live without outside space and a family unit. Many people dont live like that. Living in a confined space (as many do in cities) and not allowing people outside or to other people's home or pubs is a big ask which some people dont accept as a price worth paying.

I dont agree with them, but I dont live in a cooped up flat either...

Oh yeah. Fair few of my colleagues decided to live on-site during lockdown because they had vulnerable family, lived a fair way off-site, etc, etc and a sizeable percentage of them have had time off with stress-related illnesses as that's been the worst of all worlds - you're either in a small room, sharing a kitchen and bathroom with relative strangers(who's habits you're not accustomed to), no garden and the ever-present temptation of 'it's a bit short tonight, I might as well do some extra'.
