I didn’t say that... he really did sound disappointed the way he said “and he’s put it over the bar, he really should’ve scored there”...

I have. If you listened back to that bit of commentary of that chance, tell me it didn’t sound like disappointment, correct me as to how it sounded? I’m only talking about that one btw, not generally saying it’s all the time, altho have heard it before.

He does get his tone wrong in those situations quite a lot.

I've always found it to be politeness on his part on 22:05 - Nov 3 with 3552 views | ScottCandage | To me, it's as if he feels that when Town are on the road, he's a guest in someone's house and doesn't go overboard in screaming for the "visitors" in someone else's home. He's much more passionate at home matches, where he feels comfortable enough to get loud. [Post edited 3 Nov 2020 22:07]

Nah, he just tries to raise the excitement in his voice who ever is attacking. He'd be a poor commentator if he spoke in a continual monotone when the opposition attacked or scored. The excitement in his voice is always hugely amplified when Ipswich score.

I think Woolley is an unbiased commentator in as much as he tries to find the 'mood music' to generate maximum number of listeners. Like it or not, many who listen to BBC Radio Suffolk are not blue tinted glasses Town supporters and they enjoy a continual drip of the addition to the displeasure of others rather than the very occasional spectacular news about the little local team. Sad sign of the times but, for me, the best course of action is to minimise contact with BBC Radio Suffolk coverage and listen to the other radio station for a bit of incisive insight into our team (and usually a higher number of favourable comments about us). Does mean I miss out on the Mick Mills stuff, come to think of it - why isn't the match commentary given to Mills, then we would know what was going on and why - if we could stay awake...

That's just absolute nonsense. I've said it before, if I could be bothered to transcribe everything Brenner says there's COUNTLESS examples of how he favours Town. Off the top of my head, one of their players went off and Brenner said "he's not been as good as he usually is but I didn't want to say while he was on the pitch because I didn't want to tempt fate." Both Brenner and Tommy Miller were dumfounded by the decisions that went against us, not happy.

It's the tone of his voice. The disappointment you're hearing is you projecting. If you listen to what he actually says he constantly makes references that show he's in favour of Town. It's beyond question.

So are you saying that he is not the voice to commentate then?

Brenner again sounded disappointed when Sunderland didn’t go 3-1 up... (n/t) on 11:59 - Nov 4 with 2979 views | clive_baker | I don't understand the stick he gets and I think it's more than a little unfair that he's called out on here. He does a decent job, and always favours town which you would expect a local radio commentator to do, while retaining a healthy degree of balance. All of his language is in favour of us. 'Thank goodness that went wide' or the point Dolly made above about not tempting fate. I don't think he sounds disappointed when we score or when the opposition misses, quite the opposite. He's always fairly downbeat when we concede. I think that chance yesterday he was just surprised he missed as much as anything, as we all were.

This. I think some people just get emotional in the moment and want someone to blame. If the opposition has a good chance it's right for Brenner to say so. Suck it up instead of projecting onto the commentator!

Can we just leave it that he is a Marmite commentator, some people seem to love the spin he puts on games but for others of us it is like rusty nails on a blackboard and we would rather have another option, or a rest from him some weeks to let someone else give us something to compare and contrast.
