McGuiness 15:21 - Nov 7 with 2962 views | Herbivore | People kept saying he was quality, I have to say I'm not impressed. Two errors from him for that goal and he was at fault for Sunderland's opener the other day. We got relegated letting the likes of Chalobah and Pennington try to iron the mistakes out of their game whilst gifting goals to the opposition, I don't want us to be doing the same with McGuiness.

McGuiness on 15:45 - Nov 7 by Herbivore | He's made basic errors that have led to goals twice in just under 3 and a half games. I don't understand why we are playing someone else's rookie CB so that he can get these errors out of his system. It there was any long term benefit to us it'd make more sense. |
Just football though innit. We’ve done the same to others with Woolfenden, Downes etc. and we look at that as a positive thing.

Sure, but we're already well stocked with error prone CBs. Not sure why we've signed another.

McGuiness on 15:26 - Nov 7 by Herbivore | But this is the problem. You can't have defenders who look good on the whole except for the massive mistake they make that leads to a goal. Pennington was the same, Nsiala is the same often as well. It's the reason we can't trust Nsiala in fact, but at least he's our player. There's no value in developing someone else's rookie centre back if they're making those kind of mistakes. |
All defenders make mistakes. If he makes them week in week out then you may start to have a point, but not at this stage when he's defended so well in general - and you can't ignore that. I'm not even sure today's second goal was an 'error' as such anyway. The comparison to Toto is very harsh, even considering his good start to the season.

2 goals from his errors in 3 and a half games is a rather worrying start, but some people love a loanee from a big club I guess.

He may well be a tidy footballer and have some good attributes, but it's Pennignton all over again at the minute where someone else's player is costing us a goal a game whilst they learn their trade. All whilst Woolf is on the bench.

Did Wilson make any errors before being dropped?

id prefer woolfenden and wilson, they seem less erractic in their judgement, also less laboured.

And? If he was our young player I'd cut him some slack, but what is the point in him starting for us and costing the team goals and generally looking erratic when we won't see the benefit long term?

McGuiness on 15:25 - Nov 7 by TheTrueBlue1878 | We have Nsiala and Wilson as the alternatives. He is an upgrade. |
Sorry but he is not an upgrade on Woolfenden or Wilson. Much of a muchness with Nsiala - dangerously accident prone.
