So, just the five big decisions going against us this week 17:41 - Nov 7 with 856 viewsSteve_M

Plenty for everyone in these two matches, some pointlessly soporific parts, some really good football, a few too many missed chances. Lambert certainly deserves criticism but the performances this season don’t warrant a change of manager.

The performances over the last 2 years do though and I'd argue things haven't been sufficiently different this season to justify keeping him on. We still can't beat the better sides and we still look mainly pedestrian and disjointed with the occasional good half where our quality shows.

We find ourselves in situations where refing decisions affect more than they should.

Abject extra time performance and 35 mins of decent football in the second half certainly doesn't warrant us deserving a win today.

Fortunately, 3 poor decisions have not cost us any league points and we have got some football into the legs of Bennetts and Norwood.

Here is hoping 5 really big calls go our way in the league over the rest of this season.

Its very much like us under Hurst. We have short spells of looking decent but cannot...in any way....dominate a game or get any kind of consistency.

I said a few weeks ago....this is very much deja vu.

We still haven’t beaten a top 6 side and we looked poor for 3 out of the 4 halves. Yes the officials were abject but even without them we are not good enough with this manger to get out of the league, a bold owner would see this and sack him.

Really? Those decisions meant a 2 goal swing in the result, do you mean we should get 2 more than the opposition each game just in case

To be fair, I don't think this match (or any of the cup games) should count towards those stats. We had a mush weakened side against their first team. We put up a decent fight after giving them 2 goals.

However, as I posted on another thread a day or two ago, your overall point is still correct and very well evidenced.

Our first half performance isn't anything to do with officials.

I think it should count and ‘putting up a decent fight’ isn’t good enough. Nor is complaining about refereeing decisions. I know we are now little Ipswich, underdogs in every game, but we should be doing better than this. Against anybody with anything about them we struggle and/or lose in the third tier of English football, not the Premier League.

The standards of everything Ipswich Town have plummeted over the years and we are scraping around for the dregs in everything from a tin of paint for the portacabin to players. The club is owned by somebody who is clueless, disinterested, happy with mediocrity and the team run by one of the most useless managers in the country.

Agreed.

It’s a process and we’ve been better this season at stopping the random formations and selections. Now we also need to be better at making our own luck and handling League One decisions.

Think the main focus after today should be how (and why) we were totally out of the game in the first half, back in the game and on top in the second half but then showed Portsmouth the way back into the game.

We’re clearly a side on the edge of something but the question is whether we (and Lambert) can really grasp the opportunity or are going to lose ourselves.

I thought it was pretty even until the first goal, then they scored twice in quick succession and gained confidence whilst we started to flail. Nolan’s goal came against the run of play but gav3 us something to hold on to for the second half which, in fairness, we took advantage of.

Is it unfair to pin us really falling apart in extra time on Judge replacing Huws? We had lost a grip of the match before then but it really seemed to slip away after then. Saying that, we did create chances despite being on the back foot.
