Biggest disappointment today is Huws 19:43 - Nov 7 with 4191 viewsmattyhollandsirish

Looks a shadow of the player that joined us. Injury seems to have taken away any pace he had. Really slow in possession, doesn't drive forward and has constantly given the ball away this season.

Confidence is shot to bits after being dropped behind Nolan, Judge, Lankaster and on todays performance, probably Mcgavin.

There's a player in there I think, but hard to see how his career with us goes forward from here.

He also gave away at least two needless free kicks in dangerous positions. Really poor performance.

I’m imagining he’s worked very hard on the muscle groups supporting his knees, wonder if that’s impacted him. He’s only 27 but playing like his legs have gone, his instincts too. Just seems to be a disconnect between what he’s trying to do and doing.
He needs to play again on Tuesday, see how he goes but it’s been the same in all his recent games, very sad.

Send him out on loan to L2 to get game time and get some confidence back. We all know there's a quality player in there, and he's surprisingly young still.

Forgot he was playing. Mind you Forgot Nolan was playing until he popped up and scored.

In the first half it was almost if the defenders were looking for Dozzell to demand the ball from them. We are going to miss him next three league games.

The issue he’s got is pre injury he was a high energy, box to box, action man type midfielder. A physically strong all rounder that could play a bit, without ever being the greatest footballer. Now the first 2 have seemingly gone from his game, he’s just a bit of a lump in the middle. He’s ponderous on the ball, slow, immobile and doesn’t possess great quality. His passing is bang average and his inability to get around the pitch renders him short of possessing any real goal threat that he once had, nor offer too much protection defensively.

He’s an enigma whose reputation exceeds his demonstrable contribution for the past year now. A passenger is actually a bit generous given he made some notable adverse contributions, cheap free kicks, passing out of play, losing possession countless times. He was awful at Doncaster where he was hauled off after an hour and awful today. He’s not just behind Dozzell, Downes, Bishop, Judge and Nolan, but on today’s evidence I would add McGavin to that list. Probably Lankester centrally too.

I don’t think we’ll see Huws in a Town shirt too many times more.

I think Nolan faded out of the game as well which was part of the problem

McGavin will be a player based on that but still has a bit to learn. Once he oils out his weaknesses, he will be an absolute gun.

Judge can drag himself out of the centre circle and is probably as far from immobile as we have in the squad. He turns the ball over countless times. He’s more valuable for that contribution than offensively though, a flying winger in a front 3 he isn’t. I don’t think he’s ever been that. He’s had a pretty solid if unspectacular season thus far though I would argue.

Huws doesn’t bring anything to the party. It’s a shame as if he was half the player he was pre injury he would be twice the player Judge is. But he’s not, sadly. He’s done, and I think we’ll find that proves to be the case if we look back on his career in a few years.

He’s stealing a living as is Judge. But remember there are no standards or pressure to succeed at ITFC, so who can blame him.

Yeah, sadly I think he's done. There were some glimmers back in January that he could be effective again but he's looked miles off it this season. The injuries have ruined him.

Really poor performance. As you say, looks a shadow of pre injury player.

Looks leggy/slow/lethargic, gave the ball away too much.

Can’t get minutes so no real surprise there is no confidence or quality coming through there at the moment. Don’t know where you go with him really, contract up in the summer.

McGavin the bright spark for me today, really impressed by him, the confidence to always want to ball is brilliant to see, of course that won’t last long in the ITFC first team, that desire to actually play a forward ball will be soon ripped out of him.

Agreed. He was a great player for League 1 level, but he hasn't ht those heights again. If he did he would be the best player in the league.

Its a shame but I think he probably needs regular games. However I'm guessing he is on a fairly big wage so not many people would be willing take him on loan and guarantee him games.

That's not really fair. I don't think he is stealing anything, i'm sure he is trying but he is just not able to reach the level he was at before his injuries.

Bang on. With the younger crop now making their mark, his days are numbered. Bishop, Dozzell, Downes and McGavin are all much more interesting combinations than Huws now.

With this in mind and Skuse coming to the natural end of his career, it frees up some space and more game time for the likes of Nydam.

It's very sad.

He's only a shadow of the player when he joined. He's lost his swagger, against Villa he was huge, taking control of midfield and dictating play and offering a better outlet as he's taller and stronger that therest of our midfield.

Now he's a liability, giving the ball away, not making tackles and worst of all going backwards.

Has he always played the holding role? It may just be how he played with confidence at the time, but when we first signed him he seemed much more of an attacking force and would bust a guy to get into the box and get some goals like Villa and Newcastle at home. Has he just been converted into a deep lying role as he’s got older, or did he used to just press forward from that position?

The saddest sight yesterday was when he got the ball about 20 yards from goal with some space, but didn’t have the confidence so took too many touches and wasted the opportunity.

Technically he should be head and shoulders above most in this league, but it’s either confidence or fitness holding him back.
