Surely the original manic band were Screaming Lord Sutch and The Savages. Around the same time The Crazy World of Arthur Brown were entertaining us.


I attended "Flashback 67" at The Centre Airport Hotel in 1977. It was a celebration of the pirate stations Caroline London etc as it was the 10th anniversary of the Marine Offences Act.

Screaming Lord Sutch did not disappoint on the Saturday night wielding a flamethrower and he managed to set the stage and the curtains alight. along with , I think the drummer !!

I recall an almost naked fire breathing dancer basically masturbating some flaming brands on stage with Porno For Pyros at Glastonbury, which I though was a bit bonkers.
